N54 the beast. Biggest issues with n54's is the owners, most people buy them & throw money at them to make them faster before carrying out all the maintenance then complain they aint reliable 🤦🏾‍♂️

Its a great route to go down, and you will find the car is actually MORE reliable without the stock twin turbo set up. The stock turbos are a ticking ££££ pit and well worth getting away from them :)

@@bigkaswrx8115 the aftermarket twins have reinforced wastegate actuators /flaps and don't require any rerouting making it quite a bit cheaper than going full single conversion. Agreed that the single will still be more reliable in the end though

I out upgraded twins on about 10k ago but over the last four years it's spent more time parked up than on the road been slowly ironing out the basic maintenance issues need them sorted first but they are great cars when they run right.

@@suffolkdangler981 make sure you drive it enough. Nothing these engines (TALKING TO YOU GASKETS) hate more than sitting for extended periods of time with fluids drying up

@@papa_pt luckily it's now having the timing chain replaced along with crank seal, rocker cover and sump gaskets. Then it's ready for a remap hopefully mate been saying this 4 years now 😜🤣 this time next year hey

Great video, for people what think about n54 common problems are electric water pump, high pressure fuel pump, injectors, lambda sensors on high power settings, boost leaks ,because bmw plastic is fragile coolant pipes, westgate rattle,

Ricky it sounds like your hating mate, a lot of the newer M cars don’t come with LSD’s either. That’s the whole point of building/tuning a car to improve it as a whole. A lot of people don’t know about the n54 engines, also Richard doesn’t mention that the n54 comes with forged Rods and crankshaft from factory, I don’t many M cars come with factory forged internals.

he means the internals are stock. The N54 are notourious for the bolt on parts (water pump, HPFP, injectors etc) for failing, when he mentioned he replaced everything, he meant the peripherals

@@shaneomac-9069 it does, it has forged crank and rods but the rods are the weakest part along with the pistons and rings, pushing them above 600/700hp isn't the best even though the rods are forged. The crank is indestructible though
