What a beautiful car! I was relieved when you revved the engine at the beginning of the drive that there wasn't any smoke at all. I like the colour of the wheels, but if you're going to change them, I vote for black rather than silver. It would be interesting to hear the car with a different mid-pipe. I don't think it sounds as good as it should. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this gem!

Imran bought his favourite Green toy, what a brilliant car , it was built with allot of passion,Green passion I always wondered what it would be like to have a V8 in an 1M , this car will put the proverbial smile on your face every time its started and driven, this will be one of the most interesting build of this year ,Imran when the 1M's were new i wanted one and had a big chunk of money and looked at one in Vancouver, Canada at a BMW dealer and found out $50k downpayment the guy laughed at me and i told i am already qualified for it, and he said you need another $100k to own this car, so he basically doubled the price of the car that BMW had set for them to be sold, so i bought a house instead of a car 👍

If you take proper care of your S65, as an engine it's a totally different level as the N54. I had 2 cars with the M54 and also had an E92 M3 for 5 years.

Surprised you don’t find the Nitrons good on the road. Mine are in a totally different car but I run mine full soft on the road and they’re great. Then adjust accordingly for track. Best coilovers I’ve ever had.

Can only comment on this specific set fitted to this car, but personally not a fan. A softer setup is needed for it to be a confident B road blaster which is what we aim for.

I agree if swapping out the hood for one without the hood pins but that current hood looks identical to the e92 hood. Good fabrication whoever did it.

It’s a Seibon hood and a pain in the ass to fit - makes the car over a standard 1 series plain bonnet and the vent aligns with the intake like an M3 would… The catches were essential as this is carbon, very light and the 1er only has a centre catch unlike the M3 which has two.

@@troypatillo1688 yeah, my first choice was an aluminium version of this style but it would have been custom, and I didn’t know of anyone that could fabricate it at the time. I got used to the catches in the end, kinda gave it a more aggressive feel.

Cool thing, but the 1M manual gearbox with its OEM lightweight flywheel is one of BMWs best. For me, it’s a shame to lose that with DCT. I have an E90 M3 so love the V8, but the N54 has its own character and for me suited the little M brother image.

Personally I preferred the DCT box when considering the characteristics of the engine. I’m a total manual lover, but that 7th gear really compliments this high revving beast. Very different to a turbo unit.

We can firmly say we will NEVER supercharge an S65 again. If you want power and S55 is the way to go, S65 has that glorious NA ITB sound that you lose when supercharging

Important to remember that at the time I had the car built, I was changing so much: paint, gear box etc that ripping an original 1M apart didn’t make financial sense. Fast forward to today, and building a car like this isn’t cheap, either.

That’s more of a financial question really. Nothing done would be irreversible if done to a 1M, so if you kept everything to return back to standard if you so wished then sure why not.

Original owner of Bruce here - I did initially consider an S85 but pulled away for two reasons: number 1, the fuel tank is small and the V10 is mighty thirsty. Secondly, I opted for DCT which at the time was not a possible mating with the V10. The S65 is a glorious engine and suits the car perfectly.

S85 is a special engine and one in the small E82 chassis would be incredible, but would for us become more of a totally custom build where the S65 in the 1M is more of a ‘why didn’t BMW do this’
