I lived in Germany in the early 1970's. . I remember as a kid standing behind a 911 on my bicycle staring at the duck tail spoiler . The car was parked at a small shopping center . The man that owned the car was standing outside one of the stores with a smile on his face realizing how fascinated I was with his fine automobile . It was a dark maroon light metal flake color . I was 7 years old . Funny how certain things stay in your mind .

AF brat? I too lived as a kid in Germany for 3 years. So did my wife, she was a military kid too, although we certainly didn't know each other then. Anyway, I too recall seeing the occasional 911 and marveling at it. But I was there in the late 70s, so the Turbo existed (1974, if I am correct without looking) and I always wanted to see one but didn't. We must not have lived in an area where such a car could be seen. But oh, the memories. Now I live in Phoenix and people drive Lamborghinis to the grocery store. Times are so different now.

I too lived in Germany (Bad Homburg vd H) 1973 as a 10 year old. I vividly remember the brightly coloured 911’s with the ‘little duck tail’. I also saw a Lamborghini Countach walking back from school one day. I’ve never been the same ever since..

I grew up in Eastern Europe. I had a chance to visit West Germany in my teens. It was mid 80-ties. I saw a 928 parked next to my father Wartburg. And it was more than a fascinating. For a kid from Eastern Europe that was living only with soviet and Eastern Block cars.

@@howdareyou41 Sorry. This is just my humble opinion. For me today’s "the best supercars with electric motors" compared to this Singer are just a fracture of love that I have for this car. I surely understand fascination with “speed”, “how fast can it go”, touch/screen/talking cars with zero emission but at the same time they are so blend, soulless and not involving as toaster on my kitchen table. And about horses? Probably true. If Singer would breed one, though.

A Singer 911 is like a Patek Phillipe 5303R-001: sure, an Apple Watch is far more accurate, is easier to read and does far, far more...but that is not the point. Function vs the highest form of art, combined with tiny, subtle hints of engineering perfection and absolute fanaticism to the smallest details.

@@dedyardana1224, the 992 GT3 is a great car, but it's still quite synthetic. It's too big, it's too heavy, and it has electrically-assisted steering (a major no-no for any true driver's car--just ask McLaren, Lotus, Singer, Gordon Murray Automotive, et al.). This is absolute truth..for the past decade or so if someone brings up the cliche'question of "whats the first thing you'd do if you won a powerball jackpot?" My answer always baffles everyone, and here's what I say: "first thing I'd do is go find an old 70's-80's aircooled Porsche 911 in good driving condtion, but not pristine condition" Then when the incredulous looks and "why would you do that when you can literally have any car you want?" die down a bit I follow up with "then I'd drive it straight from Texas to the front door of Singer". Of course most people have no idea what I'm talking about, not even so called car guys...but I read an article about a Singer in some car mag about 10-12 years ago and have been hooked ever since. I don't even know if Singer takes walk in customers, but I'd make them tell me no in person. I would truly rather have a car like in this video than any new Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti...even a current 911 GT3. Simply gorgeous and an experience like no other.
