The decisions are taken with lots of planning. If it's done by govt, it makes sense.

Diesel engines will never be removed fully, imagine if we are at war or some natural disaster occurs and the entire electrical grid is shutdown, then only diesel engines will be able to work. We obviously will change to more efficient diesel engines with less emission like first we had Alcos, then EMD then we have the General Electric series wdg4g and wdg6g

@@HereticInquisitor7 I don't think so. Railway is working on green hydrogen powered engine to meet it's target of carbon emission free by 2030. By 2050, there will be oil scarcity around world. How can we run diesel locomotives by then ?

@@amiyaranjansahu8008 yeah by 2050 definitely diesel engines would be obsolete but my point was we'll never be 100% dependent on electric locomotives , as you said hydrogen engines will replace it .
