If you've got £600 spare and dont mind a desktop or if you usually play consoles (you're static anyway), then you can get a PC that will play this on Ultra at 60 FPS constant. Cody Roberts Yeah bounty is what I used to do the most, I have a vulture wich used to be pretty good for that, way before the engineers, now with all that stuff is probably a bit outdated, never got one of the bigger ships, bounty leaves decent money to survive but nothing to really get rich unless you grind a lot, I tried my luck with some community goals and was able to get 5% in one some time ago, gaining around 20mil, that's probably all I got, I don't really remember, all my keybindings on my Xbox controller got reset in one of the updates and Im not able to configure it again for some reason, and the default doesn't seem natural to me, I really need to sit down and fiddle with it. Thanks for the offer tho, I might come back some day, that game keeps calling me back.

This way of introducing aliens into the game is beyond awesome. @Verdiumm7 жыл бұрын
The steam page, and their advertiseing pre-launch says differently, very misleading, myself and many others bought into it because that's exactly what they were (and are) selling it as. An MMO. I don't need it to give me things to do, but when everything you CAN do is grinding numbers up (literally, all of them) or combat, that limits how much enjoyment you can get. Tradeing, Smuggling, mineing, bounty hunting, Com goals, powerplay. ALL of them, is litterally grinding for cash, or grinding for an arbitrary number, and incredibly tedious, not to mention, some are utterly worthless compared to others for money gain. Combat gets boring after a while, because the AI becomes predictible, exploring is ok, but after a while, you've seen all the game has to offer, (like no mans sky, all proc gened) In the end, theres not much to do in the massive pool of space. Add to that, they haven't made any attempts to make the faction systems and background sim make sense, and be interesting, they all function the same, with different stats, they are facelesss, with no character represented aside from text. Outside the visuals, it's a very, VERY bland game.
@Achedb0b17 жыл бұрын
Same, it's a damn cool game with a lot of potential but right now we're just waiting, grinding, hoping for more content and updates. It'll be at least another month or 2 til we can interact some more with these aliens I bet.

Then I suppose you can just buy the game find an exploit, get billions of credits, play the game for 30-60 hours, throw it away and then complain about how the game gives you nothing to do. But hey, there's no grind any more.

@QwertyuiopThePie7 жыл бұрын
That is assuming that you need an unknown artifact to get the encounter, and that you need a corrosion-resistant cargo hold to transport the artifacts. I've heard rumors that some people have encountered them without carrying unknown artifacts, but if those aren't true, you can still carry them without the corrosion-resistant cargo hold.
@TheSkyline357 жыл бұрын
But without the special cargo it will destroy your cargo right ?
@OriginalOmgCow7 жыл бұрын
You can use A lot of AFMU's to repair your cargo rack, which I reccommend if you're trying this. You might have to drop out and repair the cargo hatch though every so often, but as long as you jump in, align, scoop, it usually doesn't have enough time to damage you too badly. That was the old method of transport.

@blackhawks81H4 жыл бұрын
@@Mr._E._Shark I know this comment is old, but while I like where he was going with the Morse code idea, I don't think aliens would know about Morse code, since it's something we invented on earth. However, they might be able to communicate through light flashes using binary, since that's pretty much universal. In absence of any way to communicate properly since alien to human would be exponentially different and more difficult than say, translating English to Russian, since there'd be no common frames of reference. They'd have to do something super cool using the aforementioned binary using light flash patterns in a way sort of how the instructions for the golden record on the voyager probes work. From the JPL website- "Written around it in binary arithmetic is the correct time of one rotation of the record, 3.6 seconds, expressed in time units of 0,70 billionths of a second, the time period associated with a fundamental transition of the hydrogen atom.".. Like I said, super cool. Lol

I got pulled today "unintentionally". I was heading to Merope to pick up a unit of meta alloy for Felicity Farseer, I had a bunch of Ancient items in my hold at the time as I had been attempting the riddle of the ancient ruins, although I doubt that had anything to do with my interdiction. ObsidianAnt mentioned in one of his videos that the event seems to happen on rout to the Maia region, closer to the human bubble. I had previously attempted to trigger this event without success by jumping around that region randomly (with both UAs & UPs in my hold). I think it has less to do with whats in your hold, and more to do with where (and how far) you're coming from, as I was on a 600is LY rout at the time. Either way, this is exciting news for E:D both in-game and IRL, can't wait to see how this unfolds.

I tried to refit with gear I thought was better but then it just went downhill from there...

+Dark Shift Music don't go in with an expensive ship, use something light and fast, you just need to get enough hits on a target so you get the bounty. Also power management is hella important always, lots of people don't realize that 4pips in shields makes you massively stronger against damage.

Way back in 1984, the Thargoid motherships were unarmed and exclusively used drone-fighters (known as 'Thargets') to attack players' ships. SPECULATION: I'm thinking about the crash site where there were also crashed human ships and remembering that the human wreckage looked cut up as if they'd been hit by huge circular saws or something. Based on the circular sawblade-like appearance of the Thargoid scout we've seen in what is basically a cut-scene, I'm wondering if Thargoids exclusively use hull-to-hull contact attacks with drones that have diamond-edged cutters as their outer rim. They simply hack through shields and then through your hull at point blank range from all directions. If you can shoot them down from range, you're okay but get swarmed and your ship is going to be reduced to strips of neatly-dissected wreckage, no matter how well armed and shielded. There are hundreds of these fighter-like drones on Thargoid battleships, so a defensive posture against them is suicidal. The only real combat option would be to use a heavy gun to kill the mothership so that the drones shut down. I'm betting that the 'eye' at the centre of the 'flower' is the weak spot but you need to be close and hit it form a specific angle to get a kill. Such an attack profile would fit in with David Braben's announced formula of 'totally alien in every way'.

I'm not able to work due to a disability but this game is great for making things easier to deal with. I can't afford a good gaming pc but the Xbox One I could do and this game was the main reason I bought the console. I think it's great that Frontier was smart enough to port it to consoles.

For someone who is on PS4 and still waiting for a set release date I am so hyped to see what the next Thargoid discovery is. I heard of ED some time early 2016 and took no notice of it but one day I decided to take a look and I instantly became hooked to it and have followed recent discoveries from players and their stories of their experiences in the game and it sounds like an amazing game. So I got extremely hyped when I heard that the new trailer for the game included the fact that it would soon come to PlayStation and I've been waiting ever since for a set date. Yeah I know that the PC version is probably a lot better in looks and content but tbh just as long as I get to experience ED on my PS4 I will be fine. No need for me to buy a PC yet

I just love how beautiful this game is. It had such cool concepts.

Canon Research have spent all night looking at this. It's been some really intense and scary stuff. so far we're fairly sure this is no more than a cutscene but still investigating. you gain some data from the wake and the ship scan but so far thats it. the ship scans only show core internals with a pulse laser and no cargo.

+yobrotom yeah they work hard. All I can offer is slightly higher resolution video and some commentary.

The video is the best we've got so far! We'll tick off the test of dropping the UA after the encounter now too. :)

For me Elite is beyond just a video game in this point, it is like a massive interactive sci-fi fiction, I would count it among classics like 2001 Space Odyssey, Ringworld or Foundation etc...

As per the norm for Elite, the sound effects are amazing, that was awesome.

Its great to see Star Citizen progressing this far. Introducing an alien race is a nice touch.

Frontier did a great job! I really have to admit it. You won't need to wait long till you can fight your aliens in nice cinematics like this one, but before you can do that you need to grind more engineer techs that are so underpowered. Have fun grinding! (I regret buying this game so much)

"people have fired upon the aliens" I'm pretty sure that was the first thing some people tried to do

Goddamn. I like how the music builds up so much when the ship is turning around and then stops when it plays it's horn.

This gave me goosebumps. Oh man, loving this! I wonder what they will do next. In this video it just seems like they were scanning you and saw you had their artifact on board and didn't attack because of that..just a theory.

That thing looks so cool. In Elite these motherships released up to 8 thargon fighters. You had to pick them of before they spread out and cut you to pieces.

I remember the first time I jumped to hyperspace, not knowing what I was doing, and how terrified I was when I came upon that first star seemingly too fast... I can only imagine what dealing with this encounter was like without prior knowledge. It must have been breathtaking!!

So, here's my guess (big emphasis on 'guess'). The big bio-ships have a definite aesthetic similarity to the Barnacles, so I'm thinking that they have a common origin. The meta-alloys that you harvest from them (are they alien mining drones?) mitigate the effect of the UAs' 'sabotage' effect. From this, you can speculate that the builders of the UAs and the bio-ship makers are at least at odds if not openly at war. I'm thinking that humanity is about to be caught between two Old Ones-level civilisations. You see... humans have found a lot of uses for UAs and meta-alloys. This may convince both sides that the humans are actually working with their enemies. Given the power the 'Thargoids' (and I agree that this is most likely them) have shown, knocking out all target ships' systems without any effort, any conflict could become very, very hairy very quickly. Also, watch the video (I think that the player was flying a Fer-de-Lance) when an NPC Anaconda jumps in and starts shooting at the player. You suddenly see the Anaconda's shields light up like a Christmas tree and then the ship just VANISHES and the aliens go about their scan mission without any further interruption. The Thargoids swatted an ANACONDA without any effort and there wasn't even debris left!

A shame there isn't more than a single cutscene yet. I like the mixture of deep sounds similar to the dark of the moon trailers with a ship design similar to the Nephilim in WC5. Very well done.

Scripted or not. Wow. Holy balls that was amazing. How it just drifts by your ship so gracefully and those eerie sounds. Just awesome.
