There is a formula to calculate the speed of an organisms metabolism and the speed decreases with size. Except with hypercarnivores maybe, like Skullcrawlers from Skull Island. But they need to eat constantly to counteract the immense energy consumption and their habitat and biome has plenty food to provide.

Yeah, everything was there to make a decent and enjoyable flick, except the script. The stunned look at those bones as if they had just turned a corner and saw them. The Grenade in the mouth thing should have worked enough to at least get that creature to flee in pain. They had those spider creatures to contend with anyway, mostly. Having that Master Sargent take th frivolous time he did on that fallen character as they are being swarmed was complete idiotic nonsense...

In most movies, handgrenades look like typical hand grenade explosions. In THIS movie, it wasn't just ONE grenade that went off, it was a CLUSTER of them. Do u think a CLUSTER of grenades might make a bigger explosion? (duh). Also, we're talking about fictional worlds, perhaps decades or centuries in the future. Is it possible that 'grenade technology' might change over time? (duh). Allow me to add to your list: Doesn't get the RPG first for such a big target. Continues to have everyone use small arms weapons even though it's obviously ineffective. Commander stares stunned after buggy has been hit, rather then continuing to fire will the target it posturing. Doesn't order the group to split up to flank. Doesn't order them to try to find cover. Commander has no headgear on at all (ballistic glasses, helmet, hearing protection).

I'm going to guess that 9MM pistol was only for sound effects. A 9MM would be lucky to go that far and hitting a man sized target at 500 yards or farther would be a miracle shot at the minimum. You would have to aim at least 10 feet above the target and lob a round in at that distance.

I know it's fiction, but sand is NOT water/fluid. A giant body like that can't just move through compact sand like that and displace massive amounts of it as it moves through it. Ever tread water in a swimming pool? You could move around, right? Were you ever buried in sand up to your neck? Could you move AT ALL? Nope. Yeah. Same thing.

@@ronjon7942 no streamlining will help anyone or anything move through sand. Ever pour a bucket of sand into a cone-shaped pile? Pretty cool, yeah? Now try pouring a bucket of water into a cone shaped pile of water (not frozen and not snow). Thst demonstrates something called shear viscosity. But sand is really just a lot of small solids. So that whole submarine-sized thing moving through sand like it does is pure fiction.

@@pierre5473 Because um.. Dune is also FICTION and those Dune worms also couldn't just burrow like a submarine through sand. Sand is a solid mass of small particles, not a fluid. Just because something is 'possible' in an imaginary/fictitious movie with VFX and CGI, does not mean that it's possible in reality. But fine, if you suspend disbelief, anything is possible in movies, even if it completely violates the laws of physics.
