Fascinating... I am a driving instructor and I am responsible for those people who can not pass the practical test.. I met some people with 13 times unsuccessful attempts and I could help them to pass the test easily.. The important technique is to recognise that everyone has got different fingerprint mentally and to be able to stablish a language that two parties can understand each other properly..

Such a long way from the old method of Breaking the horses spirit... I watched in tears as some old guy tied my first horses legs up and lunged him until he dropped. Ugh hideous old boozehound but.. but I was too young to know better and stop him. My other horse Missy, I trained her to accept a rider myself and everyday she wanted to learn more. I loved this video, and I appreciate Mias' knowledge and kindness in her training Columbo.

Many years ago I as gentling a 3 year old wild Welsh cob. I trained him to every noise, plastic, footballs, bins, even guns. He is now 31 and in his retirement he is doing riding for the disabled. I am very proud of that wild beast of yore.

Mia is one of the few people that I have seen whose natural process of letting horses choose and based on that choice to continue to to be lead, guided and educated. Her calmness, yet very direct engaging of the horse in a compassionate way models a wonderful way of developing a relationship between horses and humanity in a mutually respectful relationship. Awesome. Many thanks.

Aleah Sprauge Lol, I felt the same way when this popped up in my feed, I was like YES!! Especially because the last couple training vids Mia posted here were over 6 yrs ago & the first 4 of these episodes were put on Horse & Country’s website & the only one to see them was with a subscription so I’m so glad they are on her KZbin channel; hopefully the next 3 episodes will be up this coming week, I love seeing Mia work her magic & I don’t even own a horse, hopefully someday but horse language has always fascinated me. Her method is very similar to that of Monty Roberts who I also enjoy watching, he also developed his method Eques based off what he saw with wild mustangs in Nevada as a young 13 yr old boy.😊

As someone who has ridden my whole left but put it on pause as I raised our daughters, I find myself approaching horse ownership from a whole other mindset now. I find now that the relationship is more important then how fast or how pretty the horses are. Thank you for sharing how to strengthen and grow that relationship. Learning to listen to the hoses cues makes me feel like a better person & rider.

Awesomely done! I love how the horse made a “safe corner” out of the pallet on floor and wall to stop and think about it some before reengaging and choosing to do what was asked of him. Columbo seems to love the interaction and praises. He is very intelligent and I’m sure that he’s going to finish well and become a great horse and continue to learn anything that’s asked of him!

Yay I’m so happy the full episodes of her training is being posted. I love watching Mia & even though I don’t own a horse (yet) maybe someday, I really love how she treats & works with them;she’s patient & calm doesn’t rush things & I also like how Mia allows the horse to think & make their own choice, I have always thought one of the most important aspects to working with most animals not just horses, is trust they need to know that you’re with them to guide them & show them the way & you have to trust them. Without trust things are much more difficult.🐴♥️ Lots of affection & kisses helps too of course, something else I noticed Mia doing which I also do with my dogs it makes the animals feel safe; my male Doberman constantly needs this same type of reassurance, a mama’s boy he is.😄

I too Train horses with this method. I've been training horses for 45yrs plus and I only use a series of rope halters and bosals. I do not use bits or spurs. I use a long lash traing whip that never has to really touch the horse. I never get angry or upset with te horses I train. Whether they are mine or a client's. I believe I have the privilege of a clear communication my entire life works. Plain and simple. There's no reason to use a bit period. Any pain that's involved in their training will stay with them for their lifetime. Trust is most important. I use my horses to help children with problems of any kind also with anyone with PTSD! Horses wi do anything for a person they trust. I have people watch my herd and see how they react with each other! Thank you for giving the world the real way to communicate positively with all horses!
