(they translated enel to eneru, arabasta to alabasta, gan fall to ganfor... etc) but either way i think both is correct since the letter L doesnt exist in japanese, so some words are kinda pronounced like that. the thing with loguetown is similar to the laugh tale/raftel thing

It's so weird how inconsistent 4kids "censorship" is. All I can remember is their stance on words of any kind. Sometimes they replace any actual words with random scribbles and sometimes they completely erase the words leaving a blank object the characters are reading off of. I know in Sonic X, of all things, they removed the word "Library" from a library building and left only a small picture of a book to signal it was a Library. Like... couldn't that also be misconstrued as the sign of a book store? Was one word really that bad?

Nah, they knew what they went into. They just saw that's a famous show whicu they could win a lot of money. At the end, the censorship cost was bigger than they were planning. A lot of Animators had to be paid almost every episode, to do some of the censorship, instead of just camera cuts and dialogs cuts like what happened with Yu-Gi-Oh. At the end, it wasnt profitable since they had to make the show still have the target audience. 4Kids producers were only DUMB AF, thinking they would win big money in easy way. Gladly they shutdown, FOR GOOD.

They didn't censor the smile. If you watch the video, they changed the context of the scene. In the original, Luffy was in a barrel of wine and he emerged in a drunken stupor. In the 4kids scene, they made it to where he was just taking a nap and they made his mouth move so he would say he was taking a nap.
