Well, you can't deny how nice new WK2s look and how nice the amenities are that they come with. That being said, I have heard NUMEROUS complaints regarding the Overland editions air suspension having issues left and right. Best bet would be to go on some Facebook groups and ask for advice from people who have a 2011 Overland and see what they say. I know some of them actually upgraded from a WK1 as well, so they'd be a great help. Check this group out:facebook.com/groups/JeepGrandCherokee.WK.WH.WK2/?ref=bookmarks

As a former WK owner. And looking for another low milage. (Hard to find) the biggest issue I find is the fiber glass. I’m not of crazy offroad guy but when I had my WK it seen a few trails a lot more camping but how tough would those be if brushed up against say, brush or even catch a nice branch. For that price it would almost make me cry. Great look though, love those bumpers. Never seen those.
@MyJeepStory6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliments! I understand your concerns for the fiberglass, but they're much thicker than I expected and probably have similar tolerances than those of their plastic, Bushwacker counterpart. We'll see, I know I'll be painting them soon with a thick liner which will hopefully add another line of defense. The same liner is actually on those bumpers which are from Metal Pasja!

How did you like your WK? I own a Wj and now a WK. In January i was buying a 2018 ram express until i came across a 2010 Wk, Laredo x package. Has all the bells and whistles. Seriously didnt want to move away from jeep. Ive owned 2 Zjs, My WJ and now WK. Ive been thinking of turning my WJ into my toy and leaving my WK somewhat stock. Mainly because 4 inches in the Wj will run me 700 bucks compared to 4k in the wk =P. Anyways i just wanted to Boast about the only reason i actually didnt buy the Ram pickup and the WK instead was because the WK only had 26k miles on it! 8 years old only 26k miles. It now just has over 29k. One thing i can say about my Wk thus far is it blows away my WJ in the snow. Ive got a video of the WJ on my page of some NY state of emergency blizzard warning donuts =P

BuBBz I love the wk platform. Great looking model, overall experience was great. Had the 4.7 qt2 4wd system. And couldn’t complain. It took everything I had to do with it between camping and light off-roading. It still has a great offroad community, had a OME lift and F150 MLL in the rear, gave it a nice lift and remain a factory rake look. JBA upper control arms is a must if lifting. But that’s a sweet find. I came across a 07 with 56k a while back but didn’t get to the dealer in time. It’s hard to come across a low milage model that isn’t all crap.
@BuBBz6 жыл бұрын
Nice. My wk has the 5.7. Kinda funny i had my mind set on a new ram then an add came up on KZbin. Had everything i wanted, "trailrated" the hemi sunroof,heated leather QT2 etc. Jumped on it was in it within 2 days hah. Wj still is my favorite look of the grand cherokees but the Wk is growing on me only thing i dislike going from the zjs to wj to the wk is they are getting smaller inside! although the Wk does feel somewhat sporty. Was thinking of the old man emus and the JBA's for a 2-3 inch lift. Have a bran new set of Cooper stt pros sitting in storage since i took them off the wj for the old lady to drive last winter. How did the drive shaft hold up? Also how was the cv axles after the lift?
@MyJeepStory6 жыл бұрын
You'll have some issues with the CV axles depending on how high you lift without a differential drop. You'll be safe between 2-3" though, so don't worry about that. As for the shaft, you'll be fine. You'll find differential drops from JeePerf or Superlift, but you can only get the differential drop from JeePerf as a standalone product. See JeePerf.com for more one that.

@Koffinfikill8 ай бұрын
Hey, Icelander here. I know this comment is 4 years old now but I wanted to correct you on the pronunciation :-) The J is more like the first millisecond of the word ya and not h, and I wanted to add that the double L in Icelandic kinda sounds like if you try to say the T and L sounds together like TL or beginning of T and end of L, so it would be FyaTLa sport and also all A's are pronounced like when you open wide and do AAAA xD...hope this helps.
@RickHavok6 жыл бұрын
Wow! You got a hold of these guys! I was trying to but never got an answer. I even forgot where I posted about it now. I saw them on a silver WK over there. I think I had planned on asking the guys from Arctic Trucks if they knew who made them, but probably forgot to do that. It's probably pronounced (Fee-yalasport), like "fjord" (Fee-yord). Found the Italian ones too, but they were way too pricey and never followed through to production like you said. Didn't even know a Mopar set existed but they would be interesting to see. I was about to work, or roll, mine, but that was on the old WK and the front of the rear fender is integrated into the door anyway. I'm not sure I'm ready to start cutting and massaging the new one yet either, it's in too nice a condition.
@MyJeepStory6 жыл бұрын
Oops, I definitely got the pronunciation wrong then! Well, it's better to know now than never. As for the Mopar set, I definitely look into checking them out. I think they look really clean and I tried to get a set, bu they only came as a standard option on SRT8 WKs in Europe. It was tricky contacting dealers and even finding the correct part numbers. You're also dealing with a genuine Mopar part so of course they're very expensive as well. I cut my fenders previously to emulate the Nitro Gear and Axle SEMA WK. The actual SEMA WK had a thin tube welded to the edge of the fender and then rolled quite a bit. Overall I prefer the flares, they inspire confidence being so beefy and sturdy along with the ability to stuff larger tires makes them a game changer. Check out my Facebook page too if you're interested in a set. I am working with the company to get a group buy going! Facebook.com/MyJeepWKStory

1300 for flares only yet i have full custom fiberglass 4in bulge prerunner fenderd for 350 and a hood for 300 on my ZJ life is a trip
@MyJeepStory4 жыл бұрын
ZJs have flares from the factory so it's much more simple to make a design for them whereas for a WK, the only option is to start from scratch. I'm not saying that $1,300 is cheap, but there's also a smaller market for a WK over a ZJ so supply and demand has a big effect on the price of each. Black Ops Auto Works also makes fiberglass and carbon fiber hoods for WKs, but they're also a lot more complex than a ZJ hood having to follow the original body lines that contour the headlights causing the price to increase.
@MyJeepStory4 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, I didn't mean ZJs have flares from the factory, but that other companies have made a design for them already giving custom work a template and place to start when designing new flares.

I appreciate you writing in, bud! To be honest, you're correct. When I made the video I was thinking off road oriented flares, but Sarina does have their standalone kit available. I was doing a lot of work at the time for the SRT8 crowd when I wanted their hood and I told one of my good friends I was going to go with the Sarona brand. You should have seen the look on his face! Well yeah, of course you can! Metal is less desirable in a fender flare and it takes much more time and skill to make it out of fiberglass. You won't get smooth lines that flow with with the body in a metal set and it's preferred that upon impact, the flare break so that it doesn't push into the body. Don't get me wrong, I'm not justifying the price. They're very expensive, but unfortunately they can be due to the fact that they're the only ones on the market. 😔

@michael knight a different route, but still a great one. JBA makes great products, but their offerings for bumpers are more of a brush guard type that won't do much for off-road impact protection!

I would imagine there is a huge market for these I don't know why there is no supply - over 1k euros is just a bit too much more than I want to spend - thanks for vid though

And thank you for watching! The market isn't there as you'd expect, though. While a lot would want them, they don't value them or need them as they do in Iceland where these are made. They're top quality and made by hand, but of course, the price isn't right for most. 😔

@@MyJeepStory I was wondering why I could not find ANY flares for my gen 3 GC - I did a search and found your video- Any idea why 2005-2010 JGCs dont have any other available fender flares ? It looks like all others have something but ours have nothing available
@MyJeepStory5 жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons that I'm familiar with. For one, the WK has no OEM flare which would provide a flare manufacturer with starting specs and mounting options to create aftermarket flares. Being no OEM flare, a company like Bushwacker has to analyze how much work is to be put into designing a totally custom set of flares and see if the result would be worth it (profitable). Bushwacker made a poll years ago for WK owners to see how much interest there would be in flares and nothing came of it. That's why Fjallasport has to make each set by hand as they are small batches with no OEM flare to replicate their flares off of and thus, super high prices. There were some previous options available, one from Italy, but with my limited knowledge of fiberglass/plastic/carbon fiber moulding, it costs a lot of initial money to make a mould and have a manufacturer recreate flares and other pieces. This knocked out all previous attempts at making, and continuing to make, flares for our rigs.

I mean, they're made specifically for a WK, so they're literally WK flares. Not 100% sure what ya mean, but I suppose they may look similar to a KJ flare.

I'm in Australia and they're going to cost me $2400 you're getting ripped off it might cost that much to make a one off mould but once they have that one of mould the cost is next to nothing to manufacture them pieces..
@MyJeepStory6 жыл бұрын
Well, you get what you pay for and with a limited market, everything is much more expensive. I found value in it and shipping alone is over $800 for one bumper. Paying $1,500-$2,200 for a well designed and unique piece like this is worth it to me. Most bumpers are so boring, but these have many more welds and design features others don't. Not to mention the rear having a tire carrier and rear winch mount along with the ability to remove the rear "sub-frame" piece for much more ground clearance. I know I'm beating a dead horse here going on like this, but if you're series about wheeling this platform, ya gotta pay unless you're willing to do the work. I definitely get what you mean though.
