David Luiz is not a natural defender he is an amazing player on the ball and has an incredible passing range so he needs to be played either as a CDM or in a 3 back with him having the permission to go forward and people to cover his back that's why he was in his peak in 2012 , and he became absolute dog sht when he decide to become a full time defender(CB)

David Luiz has literally never been a lockdown defender. Even in his prime, which lasted 2-3 years, he was great as a passing defender and a threat on set pieces. Probably the best version of David Luiz was when he played defensive midfielder at Chelsea. Already at 28-29, he was trash, although for a defender this is a child's age. Jay, how can you judge who David Luiz was in 2012 if you've been watching football for about a year?

Filipe Luiz at Atletico and Chelsea was a solid defender even though he didn't catch the eye.
