Yeah, why doesn't anyone bother admitting that it's 1/8th mile racing up front? Kind of burying the lead(reminds me of the N. Y. Times & Washington Post). Anyway, damn folks, my mother's stock 1988 Civic used to run 11's!(in the 1/8th mile).....

@Lil' Wayne's guitar teacher Yeah, "everyone" meaning ONLY people who are already well versed in drag racing. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of millions of people who aren't well versed in drag racing. Do you think there's a reason why NASCAR almost always includes the length of the race in the name? Maybe they should just stop doing that, under the notion that "everyone" knows how long the race is already! Or maybe they realize that there just may be some NEW FANS who are just starting to become interested in the sport, and not everyone is born with all that Nascar and drag racing knowledge pre-programmed into their DNA.... There is a LOT to learn for noob race fans!

This is crazy some blower pro mods with bigger slicks and wheelie bars can't even run these E.T.'s and Speeds.

Tre Dillard well most of them do but there's these things call rules and track conditions also. These cars are bad ass don't get me wrong but it's mainly an outlaw class meaning there's only a few rules. Like tire, minimum weight ,and no wheelie bar. A NHRA pro mod lets say turbo car can only run a 88mm turbo and they run a homologated boost controller @32 psi. And a blown car is limited to a standard helix roots type blower with a maximum 30% overdrive rule. So although the radial vrs the world car are unreal all them other promod cars could run a lot faster in outlaw trim

It's radials man. The next step as far as firmness of walls of tire (and an even better chance of not ever blowing the tires off with a too aggressive tune) is solid rubber. Sorry but 3.7 on a drag slick versus 3.7 on radials is a whoooooleee nother beast. I kind of have started hating on radials. I've always thought making sure your shit sticks was about 1/3 of the race. With radials it's almost jokeworthy about how much easier it is to throw everything into your car and just let it go knowing your tires won't shake or just break loose.

Trigger happy radial tire is a dead hook tire that has a stiff side wall that doesn't grow. Not good for quick 60s but less rotating mass makes it easier to get up on the tire and has less parasitic loss via rotating mass. Big tire, rolls out at the hit making foot print area bigger and is a controlled slip tire but it takes ALOT of power to grtbit threw the shake zone and up on the tire. Also they grow up to 30% from syn force witch acts like a taller gear the fast it spins. Only downside to a big tire is having enough power to drive it.
