So many amazing songs to listen by them - like Mr. Usher! may be my favorite song at the moment

Hands down my favorite band. The range they offer is incredible. I recommend listening to all of the Acts. Then The Color Spectrum... Then Migrent. Just listen to their discography. There isn't a bad song.

Great band and song pick. First timers should read about the Acts 1-5 and subsidiary concepts and standalone work. My favorite band. They do it all.

100% correct. I Love Act 3 with it focusing on the character’s experience during war (and other things)

Yes, Dean!!! Haven't even watched the video yet, but very excited you chose this fairly unknown band! So many good ones....The Church and The Dime, Mustard Gas, In Cauda Venenum, He Said He Had A Story....to name a few. One of my all-time favorite bands....aside from TOOL, of course. Please, please do more Dear Hunter! ✌️

Wooo! I recommended them to you quite a while ago, glad you're listening! If any band is worthy of full album reacts, it's TDH. They have 5 "Acts" albums that all tell 1 continuous story with all sorts of wonderful foreshadowing as well as musical reprises sprinkled throughout. They're also one of the most musically diverse bands you'll ever hear. If you're interested I can link you to a great online guide that breaks down the story album by album, great for reading along as you listen. 👍

More TDH would be amazing. I would also like to see him do a Haken epic, maybe one of Celestial Elixir, Visions, or Crystallised.

Most amazing band out there today. This is coming from a 57 year old rock and roll fan from Zep, Rush, Pat Travers, Ozzy, Journey and even Boingo and B-52's.

This is easily one of the greatest bands that has existed within the last 25 years. You have so much material to listen to and so much variety that it is absolutely mind blowing. The vocalist even did an album wherein he took arrangements and thematic elements from throughout all of their catalogue and rearranged it all with an orchestra.

The guitar solo near the end reminds me a lot of Danny elfman’s uses of chord progressions in most tim Burton movies he’s worked on, especially in the last 10 seconds of it I can almost hear sally from nightmare before Christmas singing the line “there must be something in the wind”

I have just watched all of your videos for The Dear Hunter and I am a pretty big fan of the group. Big heavy hitters for you to hear and react to are The Lake and The River, In Cauda Venenum, His Hands Matched His Tongue, The Inquiry of Ms. Terri, The Bitter Suites (1,2, and 3 first), Dear Ms. Leading, The Pimp and The Priest, and The Tank. All of these at various times have spent entire days in my head. They are all from the first three acts and will give you great insight into where the band came from since you have gotten decent exposure into where they are now.

Nice!! Dear Hunter. Which reminded me i havent suggested Ostura their debut album is unrealisticly good. So many feature artist they welcome. And one of them is from my country very obscure artist but his fretless guitar solo blew my mind since he usually a guest artist for pop artists in Turkey.

Finally! Someone recognized the genius of this amazing band. They’re my favorite band of all time. They don’t get the credit or recognition they deserve. I actually hung out with Nick and Casey on Christmas years ago when I was dating their sister. Super cool family. Am I crazy or does this song clearly sound like an homage or love letter the Pink Floyd’s Darkside of the Moon? In particular, the songs Breathe The Great Gig n the Sky”

You have to check out Coheed and Cambria, all their albums except one are based on a concept created by the singer Claudio Sanchez a whole world of comic books and graphic novels to accompany them. So amazing

My introduction to The Dear Hunter was the only time I got to see Porcupine Tree in concert. Absolutely loved these guys & that night started my exploration of their music. Great concert Cohead & Cambria was the headline act and while great I really wanted to hear more Dear Hunter & Porcupine Tree that night

The Dear Hunter is one of those bands, that I love, but that sometimes gets a bit too overwhelming to take all in at once. Which is funny, as it has such a pop-appeal, but there are so many layers, motifs and creative sprinkles in all of their songs, that it's difficult to take all in at once. And that doesn't even touch how all songs of the Acts are connected by one continuous story. Very cinematic - turns on the "inner head cinema" (in Germany we say "Kopfkino" :)).

Parts of this song are giving me a Dark Side Of The Moon vibe.
@MolokoMinus Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure this song is an homage to Pink Floyd. The opening piano riff is very similar to the one in Great Gig in the Sky, the melody of the “waking in the afternoon, a captive in a passive tomb” part sounds very similar to the “long you live and and high you fly, smiles you give and tears you cry” part in PF’s Breathe. Plus, the name of the song is very similar to “Is there anybody out there?”

Not gonna lie, brought a tear to my eye when you mentioned ELO. I have been thinking this is my modern ELO for so long, and it's the only way to describe the band to others in a relatable way. Just glad I'm not alone in that thought, especially with little knowledge of musical theory.

Hmm, to me they sound very British, at least by influence. I'm getting a big ELO vibe, a bit of later Beatles and Floyd, too.

Welcome on board, wish you an awesome journey in the TDH universe. Imo Casey Crescenzo is a prog genius as Steven Wilson, Devin Townsend (for the well-known) Kevin Gilbert or Tim Smith (for the ones who deserved a lot more).
