I'm an atheist. I agree that there should not be a paid position of chaplain employed by the government. But I don't oppose the free expression of speech by guests of the House of Representatives and prayers would be included in free speech. If the representatives want to take turns inviting such guests to speak I have no problem with that. But at no point should one cent of taxpayer money ever go to pay someone to pray.

MOST OF THE VIOLENCE HAS BEEN WROUGHT IN THE NAME OF GOD: White evangelicals think Trump is God's elect. Paula White and Franklin Graham along with Falwell JR. are his hugest supporters. So, nice prayers will not do the trick. This chaplain needs to give a sermon on the hypocrisy!

People should stop saying they're all about separation of church and state. Questions...1) Did the other religions get to offer a prayer at the lectern as well to comfort their people? 2) Is the congressional chaplain non-denominational?

Jesus, our Lord and Savior calls us to be light in a dark dark world. Those who have committed crimes need to face judgement. With that being said, mercy needs to be extended to our brothers and sisters. We are all part of the human race. We all need to repent of evil behavior. God forgave you while you were still sinning. Forgive your fellow man but hold those who broke the law accountable.
