All that matters is you are enjoying your hobby. I thought you did good, just trying to beat the rain. It's been like that here. That is cool how the railroad track works with the anvil. I don't know much about forging, but I saw for the first time demonstrating the process of it. Good to see you using the soviet blower. The striker turned out good. Thank's for sharring😎

Something I would love to get into one day! Respect bro that you are looking into this now, its a great time to learn new skills and I keep telling people this but no one listens (people who are at home off work at the moment). cheers

I know you will enjoy it should you try. It wears me out but I feel good from it. I'm an "essential worker" so I am not out working the forge like I would like, on the bright side, I have a job and an income. Thanks for stopping by. Be safe.

More duct tape! Nice blower. Your stuff will be closer together when you move into your shop and it will be better. and darker, easier to see your heat. Been a long time since i swung a blacksmith hammer. Thank you for the video, John. Stay safe

Lol. Exactly. I need a hard pipe cuz that slinky wasn't that good. Thanks for commenting.

I like your set-up! I'm wanting to learn more blacksmithing, built a little brakedrum forge a couple years ago, and played with it some. Wanting to learn more though. Really like your rig.

You are absolutely right. Or!!!, you forge and I record you? Can't wait buddy. This carona thing will be passed and we will all be back together.

I think I will do that. The old Soviet war tank of a blower gets tiring. Thanks for commenting.

Me neither, Oklahoma. As long as we are having fun and not bothering anyone... It took me a long while to get used to the anvil being at knuckle height, but now it seems natural and it seems like I have more hitting power at the lower level. Good fun... I will be back...

I cringed a couple times thinking you were gonna split your knuckles on that barrel lip. Probly not as close as it looks. Keep it up. Nice to see people enjoying themselves in a craft as old as time.

That a cool forge! I need to make a better stand and table area for mine... it’s just sitting on cinder blocks right now. When you move into the shed, are you going to trim the height of that barrel on your anvil stand a bit? From the camera angle it looks like your about to bust you knuckles on the rim of it a couple times... might be an optical illusion though. Nice job on the forge, and the striker! 👍🏻
@OKBushcraft4 жыл бұрын
It's a little bit an optical illusion but.its too close. I may trim it.

OKBushcraft - did you buy that anvil new? I was looking at those NC anvils... some have built in bending jigs on them... when I get tired of the old RR track anvil, I might get a NC one.

@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors Here's my contact. jpdupus@gmail.com Yes sir. About 6 or 7 years ago. $235. They are maybe $100 more today. If you can find a supplier and maybe drive, you can probably save. I LOVE the smell of coal smoke in the morning! lol. (I've been watching Apocalypse Now again) I wonder are you losing air from the bellows John? Other than that this is something I have often thought about doing but have never gotten off my behind to try. Well done

I promise you the hand crank was not a gatling gun mounted in a Huey. Nor was I day dreaming that. 😁 The slinky air duct is too loose. Its also too large. I need a solid connection and the air system will be much more efficient. Give smithing a go. It's very pleasing. I am sure you would excell at it. Make your own Bush craft gear- knives, cooking irons, campfire forks...

Nice set up! But, I have some questions and suggestions. What is the output diam of the blower, and the air/tuyere, of the forge? And, the anvil stand works, no excessive ring👍👍. But, is it a matter of wood availability, in your area?. Do you have access, to a welder and grinder? Looking to help, is all. 😀👍👍⚒️
@OKBushcraft4 жыл бұрын
The output diameter is 2 inches. I have an oversized dryer hose that has to get replaced. I made the tyre and air shafting from 2.5" black pipe. A solid pipe from blower to tyre would be better. I used the drum because I had it. I don't have a chainsaw so I'm not able to custom fit a stump. I do not have power to my shop so I stretch an extension cord for some things. My welder is at my brother's house about 4 miles away, not convenient. I want a 3 legged steel stand. In the works when I can afford the steel.
@drason694 жыл бұрын
@@OKBushcraft keep an eye out for an old bedframe. Pretty good angle iron in those. A 3 legged pipe base for the anvil, would be great. Put feet on the bottom, fill the pipe with sand/dirt, and used oil. Helps deaden the ring. A pice of plywood between anvil and stand helps also.
