Todd, I’ve been fishing the marsh out of a 2200 Blue Wave since 2015 and before that I had many many bass boats. My knees are bad and I do a lot of jump fishing like you and the ability to stand or lean is important, so the center console is a must. I’m 75 and have been wanting to downsize, but not give up fishing. I follow you and saw the G3 you were fishing out of and realized it is a great setup for the type fishing you do and what I do. Last week I went to Greenwell Springs Marine and bought a G3 DLX 18. Good luck with your new boat...
@MarshManMasson3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and I'm glad you found a boat you like. I'm happy with my Avid, but I didn't switch because I had any complaints about the G3, other than wanting a layout that better fit my style of fishing

I fished Delacroix this same weekend and the water was like chocolate milk everywhere. It was hard to find them for sure. We did stumble onto a few of them. LOVE your videos. Best Louisiana marsh channel on youtube.

So cool. I live in Amory where the Avid Boats are made. Building boats is in the Faulkner’s blood and if the Avids are like the Nautic Stars and Sprints before them you’re gonna have a jam up boat.

Great video as always and love the new rig, can’t wait to see some footage of you running through the marsh in it. I fished delacroix 2 weeks ago and caught 15 trout and 1 bass. All the trout were 17-20” and caught on matrix shad limbo slice. Fishes in the main canal that funnels into lake John and lake cabbalo

I have been fishing with a foot control for 50 years. I wouldn't trade it for all the remote controlled motors in the world and I'm betting you won't either after you fished with one a while. There is nothing that gives you better boat control than a foot operated. Remote motors are a must with charters and tower fishing but other than that the foot control is the bomb for marsh fishing.
@Deeznuts843563 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean i took an old beat down foot control off for a brand new tiller model (could not pass up the deal); but it is a lot of work to keep the boat where i want it.

What is the best foot control salt water trolling motor I should use for my 22ft nitro bay boat ?
@imanalien19843 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldvodopija4790 There isn’t a saltwater specific foot control TM. Everything is fresh. Even the electronic foot controls you can get for Riptides.

I guess the Seaark with the 48 Johnson will do for now.

@anthonybeau44413 жыл бұрын
Caught a few reds at the causeway last Friday. Hadn't gotten to fish quite as much this spring. Its weird that we have dirty water even though the spillway hasn't been opened.
@MarshManMasson3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a bunch of us have been discussing it. The water is filthy across much of the marsh. Our hypothesis is that it's related to us having double the rain we're supposed to have at this point in the year. Might get even worse after this storm this weekend
@Deeznuts843563 жыл бұрын
I live on the westbank. Usually fish out of lafitte or myrtle grove. The water has been dirty for the whole spring. Maybe something to do with the strong winds we had with all the wind.

I meant to say wind and rain. Lot of strong north winds

Is there really a difference between the saltwater and freshwater version of the trolling motor?
@charlesperez70383 жыл бұрын
I believe one of the differences is the freshwater version has the built in transducer as opposed to the Riptide.
@MarshManMasson3 жыл бұрын
The components of the freshwater version are not designed to be fished in high-salinity water, which is something I seldom do anyway. I find low-salinity marshes to be far more productive
@blackmouthcur60973 жыл бұрын
Freshwater version will last you if that’s your concern, just be mindful of maintenance and changing your seals like you should.
