Today I’m flying onboard Singapore Airlines on their newest route. I'll be trying out their Airbus A350 Business Class, in what I regard as the very best seat onboard, the bulkhead. This is what's known as a fifth freedom flight, between Copenhagen, Denmark and Rome, Italy.
After my experience today I have to say I'm overall very impressed with SQ, and it arguably rivals some First Class products out there. The food service was certainly lacking today however, and the ground service in Copenhagen was a shambles to say the least. Thankfully the SAS staff were super helpful, and I'm sure these issues will be ironed out in due course, given that today is the inaugural. This new route does offer a super opportunity for those Europe based on indeed those needing to travel between Denmark and Italy, a chance to try an airline which almost exclusively flies mid / long haul flights.

For side sleepers these seats are great, as seat width is as important as length. Im 190cm and I love SQ's seats because of this. If I slept on my back they would be terrible.

I have flown this product SIN-MUC back in 2018. I am 188cms and I can confirm that the diagonal leg position is a bit of a pain if you sleep on your back. My husband is a side sleeper and had no issue at all. All other things being equal, the amazing quality of food, beverage, service, OTP, safety and travelling on the BEST aircraft in the sky, still make the SQ A350 long haul experience one of the best there is.

Thanks for highlighting my all time favorite airline.👍 Good review, especially pointing out the weird diagonal sleeping position. I have seen that on some other airlines and coupled with the small cubby hole that you have to cram your feet in, it's just not acceptable. I actually wonder how that design passed user tests. As someone who's flown in the non-bulkhead seats from San Francisco to Singapore (ultra-long haul basically), I can say that they're not the best for sleeping. It's pretty confusing on how to convert the seat into a bed and the diagonal sleeping position, while manageable, is not the most comfortable for sure. It's pretty awkward to shift your body into that little space and I often found myself just curling up on my side to try and sleep in a straight position instead of diagonally. The seat itself however is fantastic!

It's an understatement about the bed. The most uncomfortable business class bed I've experienced in nearly 40 years of flying. That box where you are supposed to put your feet is way too small and I'm not a 6'6" 2 metre giant. I've sworn off Singapore Airlines business class. I'd take another airline or fly another route.

Not sure how I found your channel but I am very happy I did. Travel and flying are my favorite things. The year before all this 19 hit I had a business trip in California (I live in Central NY state) basically cross country. I decided to splurge and flew Business class. I think half the fun is tracking down specific plane type. I flew Delta to Atlanta and then a 777-300 and my return flight from LA was United's brand new 787-10 to Newark. Sorry for the length but I really enjoy this stuff. I prefer comfortable casual clothes when flying.

great review. Re the angled seats on a long haul flight: I flew SQ22 on the 359ULR two years ago and I'd have to say that even at 1.94m the angled seats and the foot cubby are not an issue at all - so no worries there ;-)

Nice video. Looks like a total cluster trying to check-in and board. Not sure if it’s an airport issue or Singapore airlines one. Looks like the airline failed to communicate with the airport that they needed a check-in counter. Your meal service looked very disappointing esp for what business class costs. Was not an actual meal. I’ve heard that the bulkhead seats offer the most leg room. I had a similar issue trying to self check-in and there were a few ticket agents that did not want to assist me. Let’s just say I will use an actual check-in counter from now on

So the diagonal sleeping is very annoying. I’ve flown SQ in their first gen business as well as the current version on the A380. I have to admit that the 777-200 was by far the better of the 2 when we’re talking space. The version on the A380/350 IMO is a fantastic reclining seat, but not suitable for an overnight flight. I actually prefer premium economy over their longhaul J product. Even the regional A350/787 business class is better for sleeping.

Gee, for an inaugural flight, there wasn’t much fanfare!! No special amenities or desserts or a finer cuisine than a salmon sandwich. I agree that those diagonal bed layouts don’t appear too comfy for a long haul. 👍

My question is I was watching you walk up the stairway to get on the plane what if it's someone who is unable to go upstairs or is in a wheelchair how do they get on the plane? Is there ever enough room when you make it out into a bed for a service dog to fit under? I'm sure you've guessed by now I do have a service dog. That's why I don't go anywhere if I can't drive there. Some people think it's spoiling my dog no my life depends on the service dog and hers depends on me being able to feed water go to the bathroom type things.

I've the feeling that space is not two metres across. Best guess; 185 maybe. Edit. Oh, someone posted earlier that she's 188 cm and it's troublesome to sleep on your back. Sleeping sideways is the answer.

Their service is out of this world. The food is always great. Flying with them is a privilege. I’ve never had a bad experience with them. Having said that, the check-in procedure here was unacceptably chaotic, and I commend you for how well you handled it. They could’ve caused you to miss your flight!

Cant expect too much in terms of food for such a short haul flight... they fly this non stop to and fro New York & Singapore, you should try Long haul!

Will be trying the JFK route soon. And when you compare to the competition I feel the food is very much short of what’s to be expected on a 2-3 hour flight. Just look at QR or EY as an example. Thanks for watching 😀
