The common way for a bass player to get a fretless bass is to buy a fretted one, and rip out the frets.

@@Toxicity1987 as a fretless player it makes me so sad when I see those. Most of the tine it's an absolute butchery - uneven fingerboards, improper height for the nut, side dots in the wrong place. Sad, sad beans. Just buy a fretless neck that's made to spec and sell the old neck.

Anybody considering the possibility should definitely hit forest up for lessons. I only took three, the homework destroyed my confidence as a bassist but after a solid year of practicing his "basic " exercises the improvement is astonishing.

This guy has to be one of the craziest bassists out there. I mean this guy is shredding a fretless 6 string bass. I can barely manage 4 strings with frets and huge inlays. Awesome song also. Melodically appealing and brutal, my favorite things.

This is about the 10th video I’ve watched of these guys and I have to comment now. A friend said to check First Fragment out and although I’m a guitar player, I have to say that Forest is a total bass monster. I thought I had seen all the monster bass players and then I see all the stuff Forest is doing and I’m on the damn floor. I just have to call some of the stuff he’s doing as bass shredding. Never seen anything like it. What an incredibly tight and amazing band. Glad I’ve discovered them and wondering how the hell I missed them.

It was written by Gabriel Brault-Pilon, who also wrote this song (not the bass part) and the dude is not in the band anymore although I think they mentioned he still writes stuff (?). I don't think Phil's gonna cover it, it would make more sense for him to do playthrough of his songs... And anyway a bass cover would be probably better cause of the intro and the bass solo

Recently they were in Toronto. That was epic, they play it perfectly live with a pretty good sound. However, bass was a bit more quiet than I prefer. Definitely they are one of the best musicians in the world right now.
