First Future Soldier Prep Course soldiers graduate basic training at Fort Jackson

Family and friends battled windy, chilly weather to fill every seat at Fort Jackson Wednesday morning to watch 832 soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, graduate from basic training. Among the graduates were 33 soldiers who participated in the Army’s Future Soldier Preparatory Course (FSPC) that launched at the installation in August.
Basic training graduates Pvt. Brandon McNeil,18, Pvt. Michael Perez,30, Pvt. Jade Doran,17, and Pvt. Elysetta Ortiz, 19, was among the first future soldiers to pass the course successfully, and all agreed that the program helped prepare them for their future careers in the Army.

How was the acedemic track? Do they have teachers actually teaching you, or do you get handed a book and self-figure it all out?

@@rhyagelle yeah that have 2nd LTs come teach you and breakdown everything that’s on the ASVAB (1 assigned to math the other assigned to English) you’re also learning the subjects for a combined 6 hours a day everyday

I’m 31 just did my background screening for the Army, got a 48 on my first test I’m about to retake it on mon, I didn’t even study for it, the recruiter said I’m pretty much good to go just going to get sent to processing, swear in and take off, but I want to retake it to see if I can score higher if I actually study up, the funny thing is I took it when I was in high school and got like 35 I somehow got smarter without school

The 09M course doesnt work out of 75 of the guys i went in with only 6 guys passed but only got combat jobs.. 😂

As someone who has actually passed my ASVAB and MEPS... it's not a waste of time. Not at all. Not everyone can discipline themselves or afford studying materials or a tutor.

@@MsFrostitute the ASVAB is based on 10th grade education levels. No one should have to "study" for it. It's an aptitude assessment.
