First Gen Tacoma Truck Camper Gets JBA Upper Control Arms!

The first gen Toyota Tacoma truck camper was due for some upper ball joints. Instead of going through the whole process of pushing out and installing just the ball joints, I decided to install some JBA adjustable upper control arms. Two birds one stone! These offer adjustability to get a better alignment with the lift as well as more clearance from the coil spring! Not the easiest thing to install, but I hope you guys learn something and get some enjoyment out of my struggle!

I just got JBA’s installed! I agree, I wish they were black… but man, they make the front end feel soooo much better. My bushings were definitely as old as the truck. Love the video. Can’t wait to see the next camping and off roading videos!

Camping video incoming very soon! I definitely agree, the front end feels so much softer in a great way. Less clunky and less creaky for sure! Did upper ball joints come out easier than mine? Also I keep pumping grease into the ball joint but never really see the boot expand. Unsure if it just takes more grease than they mention in the installation manual.

Oddly enough, I just replaced my UCAs and ball joints a few weeks ago. I cheaped out when I bought the tools, specifically the ball joint separator and the UCAs separator. It was cheap Chinese, made tools and they were essentially one and dones. They’re trashed but they were only like $50 total for both, so I think I got my moneys worth. The build is looking great, keep it up!

Sounds about right but glad you got the job done! Did your ball joints come out a bit easier than mine?

⁠@@ConnorLeequite a bit yeah haha, no cutting required on my end. Driver side came out relatively easy but the second time I basically broke the separator tool. Glad you got it all sorted out though, they look sweet!

I bought them used on FB marketplace a few years ago. The previous owner told me he thought they were American Racing baja style reps.
