for me personally, a kettlbell based workout helped me so much with rucking.

This is fantastic! Been rucking for a few months now. I also train consistently with kettlebells, DL’s, squats, sandbags, farmers walks, etc. I’ve rucked 6 1/2 with 30lb. Some weekends 5 on a Saturday, 6 on a Sunday. Question is running and/or jumping. I have a repaired torn achilles and torn medial meniscus so I can’t really sprint hard or jump too well but my GPP is pretty good. Would love your opinion on how I’d fair on a basic and/or a Tough. Thank you! I’m 57 btw. 5’9” 185. Thanks for your advice. I was thinking of doing the 4/1/23 Basic in NYC.

I would say you should be fine and the cadre always want to know if you have any injuries or problematic areas they can work around or substitute movements for you.

I struggle to maintain a pace faster than 18 minutes. Is this an issue for a first event?
@rubbercityrucker2 жыл бұрын
No not at all! Most of the time in a basic you might be around the 20 min/mile pace and at times you might have to shuffle. The good thing is the basic event will typically not go over 8-10 miles total in a 4-6 hour stretch with breaks throughout.

Are you required to use a plate during the event or can I use gear as weight?
@rubbercityrucker2 жыл бұрын
You have to use some form of weight plate(s)

What do you recommend for shoes? Running shoes okay?
@donaldbulgrin28982 жыл бұрын
I would say running shoes should be fine being the event doesn’t have a ton of distance to it. Just make sure you wear what you have been training in and not a brand new pair that’s not broken in.
