I picked up a 6X8 canvas tarp from Harbor Freight and so far I'm impressed with the construction. I can't wait to get it out and use it.

I have seen on another channel where they have taken these tarps and sewn them together to make a wall tent. At the price of these tarps there are many interesting possibilities.

I saw that video as well. And you’re right, with the price there are all kinds of options. Thanks for watching

I’m probably going to go back and get a 8X10 at some point. Definitely a good investment. Thanks for watching

I too have been wondering about these tarps. Very anxious to hear from you how it does, but then may be trying myself! Waxing or using the other methods to waterproof it may make it more versatile or even longer lasting, but for that price, it's worth experimenting with. Thanks!

I’m very curious as well. Time will tell! After I get it wet and figure out just how waterproof it is I may wax it. Thanks for watching

I’d love to see a video of you showing how to wax the tarp.

That could happen. I want to see how waterproof it is before I get into that. Thanks for watching

That’s a good price on a canvas tarp that size and great idea for the poles. Looking forward to the updates!
@CentralKyBushcraft5 ай бұрын
Yes it is and if it only last a year or so you can always replace it. I wanted to try something different on the poles, we’ll see how they turn out. Thanks for watching

I’m looking forward to seeing your results with it. I’ve been putting off getting one of those to try as a ground cover for my pup tent and for a BSA tent.

I’m looking forward to getting some use on it and seeing how it holds up. As for a ground cloth I’ll stick to the brown/silver heavy duty poly tarp for my canvas Boy Scout wall tent. Thanks for watching
@bigferd45345 ай бұрын
@@CentralKyBushcraft I’ll stick with the poly tarp since you’ve got more experience than I do 👍🏻 I’ve had experience with the newer tents but I’m new to canvas tents.

@@bigferd4534 I was first introduced to canvas tents when I was in Boy Scouts. The tents we used were 8X10 wall tents with no floors in them. We used ground clothes as floors and they worked great other than being really thin. The tents were made in the early 1970’s. When our troop collapsed in the mid 1980’s I was lucky enough to get one of them and I’m still using it today. I replaced the thin ground cloth with a ploy tarp and have found that it does a great job of blocking moisture no matter how wet it gets. That’s why I recommend using them for ground clothes/ flooring.

Might be good to waterproof it or “wax” it. The label reads water resistant so I’d say in an extended period or rain it will soak thru! Keep us posted !
@CentralKyBushcraft5 ай бұрын
I’ve wondered about that as well. I’m going to set it up in the yard and soak it with a water hose or when I know a good rain is coming and see what happens. Thanks for watching
