Someone should make an edc wrench along with pry bar that combine together. That way, you can put more torque on the wrench and get more leverage out of the prybar.

Not a bad idea Jim. When are you gonna make one? ;)

all adjustables nowadays have that play in the spiral gear anyways so I don't view that as a downside. this thing looks so cool

Hi Ben, Great to hear the wrench has already come in handy for you. The tolerance between the top plate and thumb screw were a calculated engineering decision to allow for a smooth operation. The original wrench we based the design from was extremely loose so we tighten up our version quite a bit. All the adjustable style wrenches we’ve ever owned also have a planned tolerance designed in as well, but perhaps most people never notice it. Here’s a quick clip of a standard “Crescent” style adjustable wrench, you can see the standard tolerances can be quite large. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g16xYXSCaJZsd7s

Hey Big Idea Design!! Thanks for the comment! I completely agree that the tolerance in crescent style wrenches can vary. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the tolerance in the TI EDC Wrench as a whole. I love the overall design and ease of use of the wrench. As a suggestion for a TI EDC Wrench 2.0 ;) ... I would love to see some form of a locking mechanism that would lock the top plate once the desired width is achieved. This could help further reduce the possibility of play when using the wrench and in turn help reduce rounding the corners of nuts. I love the products Big Idea Design produces and will continue to support you when I can! Have a great weekend!

I still love open adjustable wrench.. More functionality.. Like hose fillitnngs, reducers.

I can understand that. To be honest I haven't used mine much at all, but I do carry it with me on my emergency biking kit. It's light weight and small so it's perfect for those emergency situations.

First off I have no problem with paying good money for quality. This in my opinion has a hefty price tag for something that doesn’t have a tried and true name like Medford knife and tool or Ramon chaves. I recently paid over 200 for a titanium CHUB( Ramon chaves utility knife) but I know coming from Ramon chaves it’s warrantied and will be high quality with no function complaints at all. I really want to purchase this wrench but I can’t justify this price when it’s coming from a company that hasn’t yet proven itself to be a quality tool company. At this price it should have a lifetime warranty and be absolutely solid and perfect. I would love to see Medford make one of these FYI

Hey RLH 42ndAMD!! I can definitely respect purchasing high quality and high price items from companies that have built a reputation. I have a few different items like that in my bag of tools as well. For me, at the time of purchase, I really liked the design of the Swedish crescent wrench and couldn't find any companies making them anymore. I believe it does have a lifetime warranty on any malfunctions of the tool? Don't quote me on that but Big Idea Design has stood by their products. I've never heard of Medford prior to your comment but I hope they make one too! Maybe in a few different sizes and maybe using steel as to keep the price lower. LOL!

i like the idea, but i love open adjustable wrench... For more applications.. Close wrench only apllicable in bolt and nut.. How about hose fittings? It doesn't pay the price.

Titanium is not a good tool steel. There is a reason all good tool companies use chromoly steel for spanners and wrenches, and S2 steel for bits.
@BenGeldreich5 жыл бұрын
Hey Wankel Motor! Thanks for the comment! I don't have a crazy amount of experience with titanium, however I do see the plus side on using a metal that weighs less then chromoly steel, especially for an EDC product. I would think that a lot of companies manufacturing EDC or weight conscious products / tools are turning to titanium and other light weight medals to achieve the demand from us consumers. The bicycle tool community and backpacking/trekking/camping community are always looking for ways to save weight. That said, most if not all of my home tools are all Chromoly and or S2 steel.

People complaint about the play on all adjustable wrenches. All have that play from the $200us down to those 2in $4 dlls keychain. Whta you have to do is, once on the hex nut, look for the play you mention turning the wrench left and right, then tightening again the wrench. Try it and let us know your thoughts. Nice video, will purchase one. Edit: what??? $125 on amazon!!, That's crazy. That's a rip off. No way I will purchase one of those. I can purchase 5pcs 3" dozier folding knifes!!!!!😂😂😂
@BenGeldreich3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jose! I do recognize that all adjustable wrenches have play, hence the adjusting mechanism has to have some play to be able to be adjustable. However a locking in place mechanism would be a great addition to any adjustable wrench. Find the right size press the lock button and it locks in place. Probably easier said than done, but one can wish! LOL!
@imanassole94212 жыл бұрын
Hear it? Shit, I can very easily see it. That's like an 1/8 inch of movement! Okay so.. 120 bucks for this wrench.. "play" shouldn't exist at all! That is what rounds off bolts.. you lost me there. $120.. this should be bulletproof. I can get a mini adjustable wrench with that same amount of play from Lowe's right now for 10 bucks.. if that. Unacceptable. The design is pretty good, the first problem with shallow bolts or nuts can be fixed, as can the play.. when that happens... I'll think about it.

Hey Ed! This video review was shot in the early days of my KZbin channel. I did shoot footage of the wrench being used but it wasn't worth sharing!! I didn't don't have the equipment I do now and the stabilization was terrible. As this is not one of my more popular videos i opted not to redo it. I do agree though using the tool would have rounded out the review nicely. Out of curiosity Ed, do you have a KZbin channel?
