Thank You for a wonderfully comprehensive look at this one Jason! It's been very pleasing to watch Airfix raise their game big time over the past decade! 👍👍 (Hopeful you got back from the show without having to rent a truck to haul the wares). 👋😁👍

Hi Jason a great review and i agree with you about Airfix having some of the best build instructions with the way they break it down into smaller steps, and not trying to make the steps to busy to make it confusing.

Nice Review, Jason, 😃👍🏻 ..Though far from a perfect kit... did you miss the major flaw in the top of the canopy centre section? Quite nasty and seems to affect most of the kits?
@ModelkitStuff Жыл бұрын
I didn't spot it when recording, not sure how, but checked after watching your video and yep I have it too

@@ModelkitStuff Yeah sometimes it's easy to miss these tiny flaws when filming live (people don't realise how challenging it can be) Seems to be on them all...but good news, its the panel that is painted over on the real aircraft (a sun-screen panel?) so not too much of a problem. 👍🏻

Alright J. Great review. Regarding mottling - I recently completed a 72nd scale Focke Wulf, and as I don't airbrush, I tried using dark grey eye shadow, put on with a make up sponge [the little plastic stick with a soft, round-ended artificial sponge] and it was quite effective. It's not that hard to get the faded edges, and if anything goes wrong, it just wipes off to try again. I got the idea from Tamiya's Weathering Master set being pretty much eye shadow and a make up brush/sponge.

Interesting idea, worth exploring

Hi Jason, yet another great review. When I first saw this had been released last Friday, I thought nah, got the matchbox version in the stash. Then when I saw it at Telford on Saturday, like you didn't have a proper look but it moved up to a maybe, but after your review, it's a yes but not right now as like you I have a build schedule and next year, it's going to be mainly 1/600 ships. In regard to future versions, did you notice that there's a 3 letter gap between the last grey sprue and the clear parts? Think Airfix has learnt a trick from the 1/35 K2 ambulance and truck where there was gaps in spures lettering showing other versions were coming. Hopefully there will be a after market masking set out by the time I purchase it, maybe one for the flying hours.

I'm building the cockpit of an Airfix Vulcan and the colour call-outs are a bit cheeky. The colour numbers refer to the box where the humbrol paints are listed. I have had to make a new list with the kit's colour-numbers against real-world description of colours in the form of text 😮
@ModelkitStuff Жыл бұрын
I guess I have not thought about that as I always write up a new list of paints I intend to use at the start of every project, good point

There are several kits by various makers in 1/72, including Matchbox/Revell, Italeri and Fine Molds. On 148 you have Monogram/Revell and Meng....
