Interesting thing with Carradice seat bags is that they made are in waterproof fabrics, but the straps for the saddle loops go straight through two holes into the dowel inside the bag. So there is plenty of hole for water to get inside. But that has never been a problem. I’ve used them since 2004. I like them a lot. For one thing they do not take any wind.

Your commute seemed so familiar and yet not. I soon realized you were cycling through my old neighbourhood! Wow has it changed in the last 25 years.

Great review! I have the next size down the Barley which I find ideal as a day trip bag. Its a great quality product, the Carridice factory is only 25 miles from me.

Longflap camper is the largest, the Super C, has no long flap. I get much more into the long flap.

Does that carry fit well on my Brompton or is too big?

just picked up a neson and bagman. Actually though, what camera are you running? it's super clear and looks good, even though you're a all over the place!

It's just a GoPro Hero5. I've had it for a few years. I've changed my audio recording, but the video has held up well over time. Only had a few minor issues, which I think are actually due to the SD card more than the camera. Overall, I'm quite pleased with it. Congrats on the rack and bag. I really like both of mine and use them regularly.

Hoopdriver is nice. I should show off my brother's Velorbis Scrap Deluxe that he got from Cycle Couture. Carradice bags look amazing, how's do you find the weight distribution? I have a seat pack("cone shaped"), but I don't use it often. Even reinforced, I don't like the added weight up high when throwing the bike around. Also, go up Pottery whole fully laden, you chicken! ;)

I'm pretty conscious about how the weight of the bike is affected by how I load things. I did stop off at a brewery on the way home one day to test it out. Obviously, I feel the weight, but I don't find it any worse than panniers. For me, this bag is primarily for commuting and it is perfect for work clothes and light food items: wraps, cold cuts, those sort of things. Heavier food containers usually fit well into the frame bag; food related liquids go into the handlebar bag. I work long shifts, so I need two meals and a snack, minimum, so it can add up. The shape is rectangular, so it packs better than cone shaped seat packs (in my opinion). Now that it's warmer, I can't get away with wearing as much of my work clothes. This bag works really well for my needs and was worth it for me. I'll... get back to you on that pottery road climb. I've got two numbers for you: 42 and 17. That's my gear ratio....

@@TOCycleCommuter I did it on my old fixie (48/15). I was a bit younger then. I still like to throw my bike around under me and I find that only backpacks allows me the comfort to do so. That said, sweat management is key and I'm open to other solutions.

Is the saddle-related support resistant to gravel routes? Or is it too prompted by vibrations?
@TOCycleCommuter3 жыл бұрын
I ride gravel routes a lot and have had no issues. I've even fallen a few times in rain and snow, and it's all been fine. The "rail" has two bolts that hold it in place. This makes it adjustable, and if something gets bent out of shape, you just loosen the two bolts and re-align everything.
