How do you find the bag affects your centre of balance? Does the bag swing back and forth at all, or affect your centre of balance much?

One thing I recommend ever commuter/utilitarian cyclist to always bring is a roll of electricians tape. Very useful for attaching odd shaped items to the bike.

I have the Barley one for my daily commute, the smaller version of yours, and it's a great bag too, from a great Brand

Looking forward to part 3. Arkel has a similar bag and I'm wondering if you evaluated it. Also, glad to see you're still running your Nature Boy. You know you're kind of a single speed role model! I'm thinking of upgrading my fun but impractical Wabi fixed gear to a more versatile bike like yours.

Do you mean the Rollpacker rear bag? That's one I considered as well. Arkel makes nice stuff. Thanks for the compliment. I definitely like my Nature Boy: it really is my first "nice bike." I like the look of a bike without derailleurs and think the 35mm wide tires are an excellent width for the riding I do. Thanks for the comments, as they help with ideas on future videos. Part 3 should get uploaded by the end of November. I want to record a few videos specific to Autumn... and upload them before it's Winter....

@@TOCycleCommuter Yes, the Rollpacker. I've got two other of their bags so I know they're good. Plus my LBS stocks Arkel and I'm inclined to send my business their way.

You'll probably get to this later, but I'd like to hear about how it feels on the bike. I've tried various "cargo on the bike" setups but I don't like how the bike handles with weight on it. As such I've stuck with backpacks, but there are obvious downsides with this option. I haven't tried carradice's stuff, but as you've said, they have a great reputation.

The best I've come up with is all my heavy stuff goes in the frame bag: lock/chain, heavy food containers. I can fit my u-lock, a glaslock food container (with pasta or something similar) and another container with fruit in the frame bag. The Carradice bag is clothes and toiletries, with my little tools and spares kit. The heaviest thing in there is shoes or a yogurt tub, and sometimes I wear my cycling shoes at work since they look like sneakers. With this set-up I can definitely feel the bike is heavier, but it doesn't affect the balance. I should probably do a video on the frame bag....

@@TOCycleCommuter Yeah, I don't want a frame bag 'cause I'm a grouch - clean lines and whatnot. I also like to throw my bike around, so my experiments with a seatpack didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I didn't do a decent enough job eliminating sway though and the carradice bag looks sturdy with your whole setup. I actually pack quite a bit lighter than you with the heaviest thing being my lock. The change of clothes and my basic tools come in at a much lower weight. However, a the lock is the cause of any sway.

@@cycleyyz Yeah, I'm grouchy about some things as well. It was actually the rack that got me interested first. I really appreciate the comments, as they help me think about the content of my video. Also enjoying your videos....

Can I ask you what clearance you have between the saddle rails and the tyre? Is that a Bagman Expedition you have there to support the bag?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3zPZnuPfKiIidE that video has details about the rack with lots of close ups. yes, it's the Bagman Expedition. I really like the rack.

Good review. Would have liked to see you remove the bag & show it used with the shoulder strap.

Thanks for the positive feedback. While not exactly what you're asking for, I remove the bag in my review of the rack: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3zPZnuPfKiIidE It should start around 1:47 mark You might be able to see the quick release attachment on the bag: it's the black thing. That can bump into the hip, so if I am carrying the bag, sometimes I have the flap facing me so that it's softer. I would consider it uncomfortable only when the bag is really loaded or heavy. Overall, I like the D-Rings a lot and find it practical. I also think the strap itself would make a difference, and the one I use is from another bag, so it's not from Carradice or anything like that.

@@TOCycleCommuter thx. Perhaps in part 3? I've recently bought a handlebar bag, an important feature was how well it could be carried around. Can't leave anything on bikes for any time where I ride to, so this is important when considering the bag you're reviewing.
