thanks for joining us for the chimera video and I'm glad you enjoyed it! You hit the nail on the head. The whole nostalgia aspect of having a cool BMX and racing around the neighborhood with your friends is definitely the same feels that I got from the bike. I would've LOVEEDDD to have one of these back in the days!! The lack of suspension isn't really that big of a deal and the seat is really comfortable. Just like my Zooz and my old fixed gear/ road bike, you had to just deweight the seat a little by putting more pressure on the suspension or by standing up all together. The bike is light enough where you can pull the front end up for a smallpop on the bigger road imperfections. As with any PEV, folks really should be careful where they are blasting through lol. I've had my fair share of broken rims and almost accidents for speeding in an area I was unfamiliar with when I had the Nami Burn E. I learned my lesson to only really those excessive speeds when I was really familiar with the area.That's generally why I take the same route when doing the "high speed long range" route for PEVs. It's going to be a painful lesson and expensive to hit a pothole at speed that some folks may have to learn the hard way, and I was one of those hahaha. Again thank you for watching and I apologize for the delayed reply. Work and personal life has just been so crazy this past 2 weeks that I'm finally catching up with KZbin now

This bike is awesome. Johnny let me ride it around the block at an electric Wednesday and the video doesn’t do it justice when explaining how fast the bike feels. It feels just like a BMX that you’d ride as a kid but with motorcycle performance. It’s also so lightweight that Johnny flips it upside down when parked since there’s no kickstand. The lack of weight adds to the fun because the torque kicks you in the face harder than heavy bikes which damper the raw feel of the torque.

they should make a model with dual suspension. i can hear the road vibrations while talking. it may be a bit heavier but would still be much lighter comparatively with other dual suspension ebikes. the nimbleness is an awesomeness addition that is missing from most store bought ebikes.
@BlownMacTruck3 ай бұрын
Why does everyone want suspension? Suspensions should be primarily for riding on non-asphalt surfaces, off-roading, and mtb'ing. This is specifically NOT for that. I want to have road feel, not dampened feedback. I want all the power going into traction and power, not compression. Any time I see suspension on a bike that is primarily for road use (especially for non-electric bikes) I shake my head because that person bought into marketing and doesn't actually know what suspension is for. And if you really MUST have that lazy, plush feeling, get a seat suspension post. Same thing with hardly any of the drawbacks.
@eyebahnrides3 ай бұрын
I personally wouldn’t want to ruin the beautiful design and form factor of the bike with suspension. As much as I love how plush the ride is on my S73 RX, I wouldn’t want it on bike that doesn’t particularly need it. That’s how I feel about the Zooz I have vs the suspension one. After about 300 miles of not having suspension, deweighting the seat and loosening up the grip on the bars helps on bumps has become second nature like back in my fixed gear days. That being said, I would really be interested in seeing them take on a dual suspension or front suspension eMTB! But I do get that they probably can’t expand their line up just quite yet

Real talk, this is rad AF! For a commuter bike, is it possible, or will you be in such asspain after 10 minutes it's not worth it?
@chimerabmx3 ай бұрын
The bike favors an aggressive riding style - sometimes standing and pedaling, manualing, or carving, and sometimes sitting depending on riding conditions. If you prefer to sit and throttle moped style, then it's best to get a cushier seat, and maybe a shock absorbing seatpost. Any shorter 27.2 seatpost should work.
@eyebahnrides3 ай бұрын
thanks for joining us as we ripped around LES on the Chimera and welcome to the channel Ralph! I agree this bike is freaking awesome. This ride actually took much longer than that to film and we rode around looking for food for a while (all in all about 2 hours of riding). Even with the stock seat, I will say its pretty comfortable for seated riding. Like @chimerabmx said, a seat with a bit more cushion and/or getting one of those seat posts with the suspension will help make things more plush. Again, I really dont think it needs it and this is coming from someone who owns a S73 RX with a thick Tapia Seat and a soft spring. The RX needs that set up because of the riding posture/ riding style but this bike doesn't need it. Out of the box stock, the bike is already worth it. I think customizing the ride experience is part of owning an ebike so if you wanted to do the seat/ seat post change to match your riding style, go for it! I think that's worth doing if you really wanted to. I hope this helps!

@@chimerabmx Will you guys give us an option for pedal assist? I don't know how big the market is but I'm sure there's a lot of us who want a small and nimble little bmx bike for commuting. Those big ass mountain bikes and mopeds are cumbersome. We want to be able to pedal with motorized assistance!
@chimerabmx3 ай бұрын
@@maubl8165 Short answer: probably not. Longer answer: we designed the motorization system and overall bike so that it can be pedaled just as easily as any regular bicycle without any assistance from the motor. People who are used to pedaling ebikes are not accustomed to being able to pedal so easily without a motor. Once they try, it becomes obvious why we did without pedal assist. After all, if you do really need a little extra push, you can just touch the throttle while you pedal. A pedal assist setup just adds a lot of extra weight and wiring that kills the sleek and simple setup; brake cutoffs, torque sensor, display, etc - all more stuff to maintain that can break. We prefer the more durable, sleek, and simple minimalist style. But of course, those who try the bike and still want pedal assist could set it up that way!

At that point I'd rather just get a motorcycle so I can take it on the highway and travel between states with out having to worry about cops lol. TBH, I don't think the larger tires and shocks are necessary for a bike like this. I'd absolutely hate to ruin how good it looks and the way it rides. The seat was really comfortable when you use it but you just have to deweight the seat or stand up with the bumps just like you would with any fixie/ road bike. What I noticed was the bike was so light that it was literally skimming over bumps at speed! JohnnyPrime has had this bike for a little under a year and he uses it quite a bit. You can't see it much in the video but it's got its fair share of scratches and nicks from heavy use. With the way the bike is built, I could imagine this bike would perform much better long term than bikes in the similar price range that chose to skimp out on parts.

I don’t really see the difference between this one and the steel they both have the same options and upgrades what’s the weight limit on this one?
@eyebahnrides3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m sure that @chimerabmx can give a better product specific response. But as a person that sells products in both steel and titanium (titanium being more expensive), I can confidently say that you pay a big premium for titanium for its properties. Strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, weight savings, better thermal properties are just the few of the reasons why it’s a premium over steel. The price tag that comes with those benefits isn’t for everyone so usually there’s a steel variant available. But that perspective is from a fine mechanical product that’s meant to take some abuse, I’m not sure if that translates in to BMX. Sorry I can’t be of more help, maybe @johnnyprimecc can chime in here as well?
@chimerabmx3 ай бұрын
The most noticeable difference is that the steel bike is a stiffer ride with a sturdier feel to it, but all-in it weighs around 6lbs more than the titanium. @eyebahnrides does a great job of mentioning the other differences, to which I'll add that titanium is rust-proof, and scratches can usually be buffed out, whereas scratches in the painted steel are harder to conceal/repair. The weight limit on either bike is very high. We have 250lb riders who own the titanium. My feelings is that heavier riders will appreciate the stiffer and sturdier feel of the steel though.

That could be said about anything tho. Track edition sports cars weren’t built as commuters, mtbs werent built for city use, edirtbikes weren’t made for road use, lululemon wasn’t built for casual wear, and sneakers weren’t built to be worn with suits, but here we are. Just like all those are “senseless choices” in all those situations, it may still be right choice for someone. As for the price, the battery is a small percentage of that price tag. Majority of it are for the parts and titanium. Since the batteries are made in the US and the bike is assembled here as well, there’s also a premium for that. There’s also the custom controller and motor. We can’t just simplify it down to 8ah being a senseless choice because it comes down to the over all package. For me and a few other people, this bike would make more sense than an equivalently priced eDirtbike since it comes down to personal use case and a bike like this fits our lifestyle better. At the end of the day, that’s the great thing about this industry. There are so many options that we can find something that works for most, if not all, use cases

But with any pev that goes this quick we need to use it responsibly. Most of the time we’ll just be using the torque to navigate traffic but it’s nice to know you have that extra couple of mph in your back pocket. This bike is equally fun at the lower speeds too.
