Instead of taking a bus to catch the train at Don Mueang station, you could take a Blue Line MRT metro train from Chatuchak Park subway station (next to Mo Chit skytrain station, where you got of the Green Line BTS skytrain) to Bang Sue subway station to catch the express train to Chiang Mai at Bangkok’s new central railway station called “Krung Thep Central”, which is right above the subway station.

As a Thai people, Thank for good video and make me feel interesting to try sleeper train when possible. Now, I can see many people more and more interesting to use train for traveling and this is a good time that to see Thailand transition from single rail train to double and also new construction of High speed train at least 2 main lines expected to complete in next 5 years : from BKK to North Eastern of Thailand and from BKK to Eastern linking 3 main airports. 😍😍😍🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭

Seeing you two made your way from the airport to the train station is really torturing. The fact is the way you went leads to the old ground-level train station which is just a month or so decommissioned. There is a proper walkway that links the airport and the newly-commissioned train station. It locates at the terminal2, 3rd floor. Just for your info in case you have to get on or off that station again. Have fun in Chiang Mai. Love your vibes.

Thank goodness, glade there is, weird walk we ended up doing thinking the station was just across the street. We were told to take the bus too, to get to DMK but had we followed our original plan we would have arrived by BTS no problem. Anyhow, that’s travel! Thanks for watching!

I took the #9 Second class sleeper to Chiang Mai back in early February. They let me switch to a lower bunk that was free since I had an ankle injury. Still at 6'5" tall the bunk was way too short. My legs cramped up. It was a unique experience, but I preferred taking the plane between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. I could see taking it during the day for the views.

From Chatuchak BTS station you can take MRT Chatuchak Station to "Krungthep Apiwat Central Terminal" yiu can talk most of Long distance train there. Or you can take Red line Sky train to Donmuang Tra😅n station also. .....sorry if my english make you confuse.

When did you buy the ticket? The new bangkok central station (Krung Thep Apiwat) opened on Jan 19 and you can take the MRT to the station. The MRT station is located directly under the new central station.

We might have booked our tickets to last minute and that station was already booked up for the date we took the train, as that station did not come up when we were looking to book. :)

​@@KeithandDev you can get to this new station (Bang Sue) by MRT (underground/blue line). The MRT exit is connected to the SRT (red line). Anyway, glad you enjoy the overnight train in Thailand. :)

If it’s very large luggage I believe there is an area at the ends of the compartments you can store them, although the space under the seats is quite large so it might fit :)

Where the bus dropped you off, before you cross the railroad tracks, there is a shipping office where you can pay maybe 100-150 baht to have 1 piece of checked luggage go in the cargo part of the train to Chiangmai

Why you take a bus from chatuchak to Donmuang and then go to train station ? You can take MRT chatuchak station to Bangsue grand Station . Its just 10 minutes or 2 stations from Chatuchak.

Thailand is working on a dual-track train to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, the route will be much faster, and there are plans to build a high-speed train as well, but in phase 3, it will be a while before it can be used.❤❤❤

The dual tracking will only allow trains to run at 120 kph instead of the present 100 kph.
