That was the thing i think that helped sustain both my parents and relatives in their lives. They were very upbeat and had a very healthy outlook on life. How else can you survive if you dont fix what you can and just joke about that what you cant fix. Life is too short to be unhappy. Maybe shorter if your happy cause, they say time flies when your having fun. Maybe I`ll try to just maintain an even keel, hows that... lol

My introduction to Eric was when I heard Fresh Cream, the whole album. 3 of us sat and listened to that album over and over again, Disraeli Gears too. The Wheels of Fire album had that live tunes and Crossroads was simply outrageous, there are 2 guitar solos in that tune, both great but the second one was off the scale. I have seen many very good guitarists trying to replicate that solo, Steve Lukather one of them, NOT one of those guys could go near it. After that on Spoonful, Cream were as a unit and that 16 minutes was amazing, I doubt Eric could replicate that himself. He matured and still plays beautiful stuff. Here is something you may not have seen, Eric and GlynnJohns being interviewed by Paul Whitehouse, a British comedian .kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGaYaHpuoMlobs0

Had to laugh at your comment about Ginger Baker. He’s my favorite drummer but the film “Beware of Mr. Baker” sums up his temper 😊. The phrase is rode hard and put up wet. Not rolled. It is a common southern phrase referring to riding a horse hard and putting it in the barn without taking care of it by brushing it down. Bassically living fast and not taking care of yourself.

@@dougwalla6272 Well, thank you kindly! I suppose my hearing isn't what it used to be? And you'll have to excuse my ignorance to that "southern phrase". Obviously I'm not from the South or I would have known that. Ginger's drumming has fascinated me for years, but I would have been scared to say hello to him. To be totally fair, he was being hit with extreme volume on a regular basis, and he was playing in a band with a person he couldn't stand. He seemed much happier in the Air Force.

I listened to Cream because it was a popular album, then Blind Faith. But they seemed to disappear. When EC hooked up with D+B, I related to their music. But once Derek & the Dominos released Layla and Other Love Songs...it was the blue print of MY life (at that time). ... I had a high school boyfriend in Vietnam when I met my future husband, Dave. At 19yrs old, I fell in REAL LOVE for the first time. It was Intense Love- as intense as the love Eric had for Patty. And REAL drama for me. When BF came back from Nam...I had to answer WHO was I REALLY in love with, and that's why the LAYLA album will always be PART of ME. Thank you for putting my life into music, even tho you didn't write it just for me. It was KARMA. Dave used to play Layla and Bell Bottom Blues to me-over and over. He's the one who told me "I gotta know-is it him or is it me?!" And the rest is history ❤️

While I agree Eric's playing is still in a league of its own, he was NEVER better than when you, Carl and Jim were backing him up. To my ears, it was the very zenith of his playing career, and the main reason was the quality of your supporting playing. ❤️
