To be clear, I said it in a previous video, but Hulhumale was built in response to two things 1) overcrowding in Male 2) rising sea levels. btw you did not have to take the ferry, all three islands of Hulhule(airport), Male and Hulhumale are all connected by a bridge, all you needed was a taxi instead, water taxi is just as good I guess!

noooooooooo- its about dead fish. male comes from the word "maha leyy". "maha" is huvadhoo(a local language of the south of maldives) for fish. "ley" is for blood. they called it that because fisherman used to go there to cut fish so often that the water around the island turned red...

You could have taken a direct bus from the air to HMLE instead of coming to MLE and to HMLE . There is bridge from MLE to HMLE which also connects from airport to HMLE
