FYI : Taman Negara is one of the world's oldest deciduous rainforests, estimated to be more than 130 million years old. Amazon rainforest is at 55 million years old. Dinosaurs roamed Taman Negara and the forests up north (bordering Malaysia/Thailand)

@@JetLagWarriors there is 3 oldest tropical in the world and all of them located here, in Malaysia. They're : 1) Taman Negara ( Pahang, Kelantan & Terengganu ) 2) Royal Belum, Perak 3) Taman Negara Endau-Rompin, Johor - Pahang These 3 tropical rainforest rainforest believed to be more than 130 million years old. So ancient and scientists believed those dinasours crawled and lived in these jungle! And yes, they buried beneath these jungles! Daintree Rainforest in Queensland may be the oldest rainforest in the world and these trio however is the third oldest rainforest in the world but the reputation as THE OLDEST TROPICAL RAINFOREST ON EARTH is still held by these trio! For your information, Taman Negara is home those to creatures, together with Royal Belum and Taman Negara Endau-Rompin consist some of the oldest rock formations in entire Malaysia, dating back more than 200 millions years ( half the age of Langkawi Geopark )! There is also a rumours that Taman Negara Endau-Rompin still keep an ancient plant, dating back since Jurassic era, but the exact location in this jungle never told to anyone! Why these jungles so old and ancient? Scientists believed these rainforest was one of a very little jungles that survived from The Last Ice Age, 11 000 years ago! Because the location of this rainforest nearby from Equator. That's one of the explanation. I'll conquer Royal Belum this November and Taman Negara next year. Can't wait!

I love this video...reminds me of my trip there...twice! Got stung twice by ground wasps during my first trip at 16 in 1981!!! Had traditional style shower and swam in the river. Spotted the longest caterpillar (easily 10-12 inches long) while hiking. Aaa....good times. Second visit, visited the kelah sanctuary and was amazed when the ranger called them to feed them. This was by the river, not the sanctuary where a number of kelah were found. (Yes, the fish recognised his voice and swam against the current to get their food!!!!) When you hike at night, you would stumble upon all kinds of plants - like glow in the dark - which is literally what it is. Helps you not get lost in the woods! Good job guys!

I've been to Taman Negara Malaysia, Kuala Tahan for 5 times guys! 3x climbing the majestic Mount Tahan. Twice from Kuala Tahan Park HQ and once from Merapoh. Awesome hiking up. Taman Negara is always visited by foreigners but due to covid-19 pandemic, you see less foreign travelers nowadays. My recent trip was 3 weeks ago with my family. We stayed at Asian Camp Resort (same as yours) and Balai Serama Guesthouse. Taman Negara is managed by Jabatan Perhutanan Negara (National Forest Department). Entry permit is only RM1 - a nominal fee is charged to whoever entered the National Park. Anyway, when we went that recent visit, it was so packed with locals and we almost didn't get to book our room due overly booked by local travelers due to long holiday (school holiday). We even couldn't walk on the Canopy Walk though waited for 3 days because there were 300++ people queuing to climb up the Canopy Walk. We went back to Kuantan without getting the chance to walk on the canopy walk....Anyway, better luck next time....

RM1+5 is basically a donation. Is flipping cheap! Lol. Bet they need some support for maintaining the place. It might be free if they dont have those fancy treewalks. I want to go there but my friends here are no adventurer.

Yes, so cheap!!! Hope you can come one day😊

@@JetLagWarriors Yeah! Sadly my adventerous friends are back in UK. We went scrambling at Snowdonia and hiking in Peak District National Park. My friend here complains about anything involving long walks and prefer not to sweat (such a diva lol). Also, the height will scare him 😂. As u said, Malaysian rarely associate doing this as a leisure (unless mall, hotel, or themepark all air-conditioned involve).
