The BEST place to camp in Malaysia, and a MUST DO in Kuantan, Pahang!
AIR TERJUN SUNGAI PANDAN ( Sungai Pandan Waterfall), also known as AIR TERJUN PANCHING (Panching Waterfall).
If you are planning a trip to Kuantan, you must visit Sungai Pandan Waterfall in Pahang (about 45 min drive from Kuantan). Other than this recreation spot that you can visit for a picnic with your family, you can also hike "THE LOST WORLD". The hike along the river was spectacular. It was so enchanting and untouched. You will need a permit to do this hike that will lead you to Orkid/Orchid Waterfall.
After the hike, we spent the night camping at the most beautiful waterfall in Malaysia! By spending overnight, we got to enjoy this waterfall all by ourselves. The crowd was gone, and we could only hear the sound of nature. Campfire, bbq, and sleeping in a tent. Wow, what a nice experience that was. Definitely recommended! Check out more info below.

Oop, about camping over night, never never camp on the sand bank or where you see river bank that had shown water had reach it before. Some Malaysia rivers are know to have avalanche of water all the sudden, or the water level will raise so fast that you has hardly anytime to evacuate your belonging. This is because the river got lot of tributary above, so when it rain up there water will drain down like a sink down stream. Never the less, it good to see that both of you are having a great time. Wish i am there.

True. Day Camp is okay but must be observant to changes of the water current. Over night must be at least 5-10 feet higher than the current water level. Look at the stones, roots, and wood nearby. Usually there will be moss lines which indicates water level can reach there.

Exactly...and its even hard to spot the early warning sign at night or can miss it when sleeping ( bubbly, murky colored, fast level rise ) and this phenomenon become increasingly common during rainy/monsoon season. But i think its okay thou coz they had local experts with them.

nice waterfall...it's enjoyable!..there are so many waterfalls in Malaysia you could enjoy it. For us, we like it as well and so many camping sites have been visited in our "Family Wild Camping" series. Some have no plug, no proper campsite..just wild camping.

Wow! I am pretty jealous. Planned to be at Sg Pandan and Rainbow Waterfall. May be another time after this rainy season. I just spent 3D2N 2 days ago at Tasik Kenyir - Terengganu. First time ever. It was such a nice experience. Going to repeat it. 3D2N on the boat house. Lasir waterfall. It is awesome. Congratulations to Jetlag Warriors. You are awesome. This place is breathtaking. Glad you had a good time. And I love the idea of wilderness therapy. I had a similar experience being in a secluded area in Perhentian Island. The feeling you get sleeping next to beach with the sound of the waves crashing in and under the moonlight. Mother nature is truly incredible :)

Too bad you came during RMCO with all sorts of restrictions. For info, Taman Negara is closed for all visitors starting today until further notice due to 4 positive Covid-19 cases in Jerantut. Visitors can still visit Kuala Tahan but no activities inside Taman Negara and in Orang Asli village. 😭
