Facts: Valle DB used to be a quiet tiny little paradise during the 80's and 90's where famous and wealthy people used to buy properties there for a get away weekend just because they weren't bothered, they could walk around, get parties and get drunk and stuffed without people taking pictures criticizing and harassing them. These days is more like the urban legend for a touristic place, is pretty similar to what happened to Acapulco back in the 40's or 50's. NOTE: It was never too fancy or poshy at all; at the time I left Mexico 10 years ago VDB was pretty much already noisy and full of tourists. All I said is pretty much confirmed through what I can see from your video. Keep the good life Kennons.

Valle is an awesome place. I lived in mexico as a child for 8 years in the 1970s' and we used to go down to Valle as much as we could, usually spending two weeks there in the summer. The life was sublime, lots of fab parties, riding fantastic little horses all across the Sierra that surrounds the lake, and mucking about at the gold club... Such a fab and privilidged childhood,..

Actually Valle de Bravo is near the area filmmakers visited to inspire themselves for Coco. The Mexican towns located in Michoacán state like Pátzcuaro, Santa Fe de la Laguna, Tzintzuntzan and Janitzio are famous to be one of the most traditional places to experience Día de Muertos celebrations :D Also, near those towns the state capital city called Morelia is a must-see since its Mexican colonial architecture helped to create the Land of the Dead. Please take a look to those towns and also check the México's Tourism Office program called 'Pueblos Mágicos de México' where you can find a lot of traditional Mexican towns with a lot of history, nature, culture, traditions, traditional food and handcrafts!

I was there a few months ago with my fiance who lives in Mexico. She took me there and we stayed at a resort on the edge of town. We ate lunch at one of those floating restaurants on the lake. So cool to see a video of all those great memories. Nothing like that here in the United States. And of course we went to see the butterflies and there was not a single one there.

It’s nice you enjoyed the unexpected down-to-earth feel to Valle de Bravo. That is in fact one reason wealthy people go there-to experience “small town,” life outside cdmx. Therefore, in the tourist center part of VdB, it will be similar to other small but picturesque provincial places. The difference for the wealthy folk is that they get to go to their million dollar mansions around the lake at the end of the day. And some, of course, who don’t even go to the center of town to mingle with the common folk and just enjoy the water views and water activities from the comfort of their mansions. If you want to see where the truly rich of Mexico live and hang out, where nearly everyone and everything you see, smell, and touch is wealthy, you’ll need a trip north to the city of Garza García in the state of Nuevo León. By the way, just got my KineticKennons T-shirt today-love it.
@momothinks92926 жыл бұрын
Clarification on the city I mentioned. Its actually a municipality of the city of Monterrey and its full name is San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León. Cheers!

Translation to my last comment: Güeros, the beutiful part of Valle de Bravo can be seen from the water. Get on the "Cristal" boat, it takes you for a ride. From there you will be able to appreciate the real luxury of the place. People who visit almost never get to see the really beautiful part of it, because from the outside it is a town like so many others. But behind closed gates, Valle is full of houses that populate the Mexican Architecture magazines and books.

I've known about it, but it is a top-notch resort in el Estado de Mexico, west of El DF. You guys should head south and check out the hot (and smelly!) springs in Oaxtepec, Morelos. Google it for some preview pics or simply check out some YT vids! The rotten-egg smelling springs are supposed to be medicinal and therapeutic. If you can pull yourselves away from your gastronomic interests for a bit, relax in the multitude of pools there. Aprovechen, gringos!

Valle de bravo is an expensive town regarding real estate. Not to mention, the dollars that you have to pay to maintain the house and its expensive toys such us jet skis, speed boats, boats, water skis & parasailing gear etc. In valle de bravo and in many parts of Mexico, you can only see the outside wall of these houses in different colors and its gate/door but you can not see what is behind those walls. Some of these houses are impressive and they well maintain by small crew that work there all year around. The owners in general, they just drive up there, stay at their house and on the lake playing with their toys. Many of them don't go out to the town as they have all they need inside their house. After the weekend or the holidays are over they drive back to Mexico City.
