I have a controversial opinion. I am convinced that JK Rowling didn't properly complete her book. There are too many incomplete plot elements, and unanswered questions. The entire 5th book is without explanation. Also, Ron in the movies is far more likable than book Ron

33:19 my favorite part about Harry and Hermione in the series is that since they were both raised with muggles, throwing a punch at Malfoy and chucking a rock at Lupin, while clearly not magically helpful, it’s definitely something a muggle would do. Wizards and witches would’ve casted a defense spell or an attacking spell. I love the subtle moments they place in the movies that recognize they have different tactics to people like Ron or Draco who grew up around magic.
@stephchewАй бұрын
Lupin does track the full moon but he got distracted chasing the people at the Shrieking Shack from the Marauder’s Map so he didn’t get to take his Wolfsbane potion (which Snape actually brews for him) - it makes him more subdued when he transforms!

About the patronus, at first Harry doesn't make a 'corporal' patronus. Harry's patronus becomes a deer after he saw his 'dad's.
@pragynaparamitamallick2365Ай бұрын
No it was before. In the match. It's not shown in the movie but in the quidditch match Draco and team tried to scare him by dressing like a dementor, but Harry thought it was real and cast the charm. Later in the book Dumbledore/Lupin (I'm not sure) informed him that He knew about Harry's petronus because his Dad's petronus was a stag too.

The reason the Shrieking Shack was rumored to be haunted was because back when Remus Lupin was a student at Hogwarts, he would use the shack to turn into a werewolf every month without hurting anyone, so the other students and people living in Hogsmeade said it was haunted because they kept hearing screams coming from the shack even though it was known to be abandonned 🙂 So no, it is not actually haunted 😂
@Nia_vailableАй бұрын
Mostly howling, as I recall. That’s why people thought the area was haunted, which kept them away-perfect for Lupin’s hiding spot. The Whomping Willow was planted for the same reason; it’s an entrance to the house. I believe there’s also a spot on the tree you can touch to stop it from moving.

Dementors just spawn in dark, depressing places, like fungi. Azkaban was the home for a dark wizard before and the ministry just decided to use it as a prison and let the dementors act as guards.
@jensrettberg7968Ай бұрын
29:15 they left out the background story of the Marauders in this movie when they were at Hogwarts as students. The Shrieking Shack is where Lupin while a student secretively went right before he would transform to a werewolf so he would sit out the werewolf-state there instead of attacking someone and the "Shrieking" were his wolf cries. And the Shack looks so torn apart because the wolf slashed out at the wood with its claws. 42:49 In movie 1 Hermione once uses the spell Alohomora that unlocks a door and gets them into the room with Fluffy.

24:38 patronus charms are already difficult enough to perform, but only more advanced and powerful wizards can produce patronus with corporeal forms (like the stag). So here, Harry had only just started learning how to do it, so the patronus doesn’t take its full form
@ericka_akcire219312 күн бұрын
I also was thinking that they probably don’t really teach the patronus to just anyone bc what if they grow up to be a magical criminal? They would know how to take out their prison guards on day 1

one other reason that we don't see Harry's full Patronus in the early parts of the movie is that he still hasn't perfected the spell. his Patronus is still very weak, and so it cannot fully appear in its 'final form'. this is what also makes his managing to conjure a full Patronus later in the movie such a feat (and impossible while he was near the dementors) - I believe that what makes this spell 'advanced' is the mental toll it takes on you and how much you actually need to concentrate on your extremely happy memory in order to maintain the Patronus effective. also, you try conjuring a Patronus while a Dementor is actively trying to kiss you. it would be distracting lol. him conjuring it from the other side of the lake must have been so much easier!
@jensrettberg7968Ай бұрын
A patronus that is "corporeal", looks like an animal is more advanced. In the training scene Harry only can produce a light goo; it's not that they don't want to show the deer form yet, he can't do it yet. When he does the deer form, it means his power is stronger.

As far as I can tell, the Ministry controls Dementors by just going "hey, if you look after these prisoners you can eat their happiness and drive them insane. You like doing that, don't you?" and the Dementors are like "Yeah, I guess that sounds fun." Very unreliable alliance there.

22:22 Apparently, if you are an evil person, who fails the spell - you can straight up get devoured by maggots that start coming out of your wand. 24:30 So the reason is that this is still unfinished spell. Only few people can get the corporal animal to manifest and most of the time you only get the shield. At the lake it's his first time ever performing the full spell, as it's right after he gets his best memory ever, which is the idea of him leaving Dursley and living with Sirius and as he saw himself do it before - he knows that the future will happen as intended, which gives him even more hope. 33:30 To be fair Snape literally has no wand there and his only instinct was to protect the kids with his own body. 39:20 Technically it isn't closed loop. It's just that we follow the timeline that reached equilibrium. Big part of it is also the fact that the time turner they are using only travels back in time for short period of few hours/day. We can assume what had happened in original timeline, where they get caught at Hagrids and Sirius likely fails to reach Peter, gets caught and dies, with Remus telling them the truth or something, which leads them to changing the past, taking themselves out of the Hagrid hut, which then lead to them getting mauled by Lupin (first at the willow and them after they save themselves - in the forest, until they save Buckbeak as well). And then Sirius probably dies next to the lake and Harry is barely saved, which finally pushes them into this timeline, where Harry closes the loop by seeing himself perform the spell. And as obviously Sirius escapes - they don't try fixing it further. But who knows what happens, if some bozo jumps back century later and bangs Harry's mum instead of James Potter, erasing this whole timeline. We know this is the case (of how time loops) when using this version of the Time Turner, because when they finally get a better one in the future - it allows them to jump in two directions, which shows them all potential timelines needed and failed before they reach the final loop (with the kids destroying the world multiple times, to finally fixing it and being saved by their parents, who weren't affected by the jumps - as obviously in the end past was fixed, so the loop persisted).

About the tattoo. I don't think it was mentioned in books, but Sirius was a rebel child. He used to put bikini model posters from muggle magazines in his room to cover up his mom's wallpaper. And he used to stay days at James's place to avoid his own family. So i would say he got the tattoos before going to Azkaban. Also in Azkaban people are trapped in their own head and fear because the dementors feed on their happiness and positive feelings constantly. Most people go mad there. They all live in isolation as well.

The reason he was able to do a full body patronus is bc he is remembering the joy he fell when he thought his dad had saved him and serious. He, bc of the time turner, became his own happiest memory. A memory strong enough to conjure a full body patronus.

29:15 There is. It was Lupin. He went inside it when he would turn into a werewolf, to hide from other people. They made it for him, to keep him hidden and safe. You can imagine a trapped werewolf would make all kinds of noises in there. That's what the kids heard, and they thought it was haunted because of it. That's where the urban legend comes from.
@ag995312 күн бұрын
Harry's Patronus was powered up by the sheer happiness of the memory of seeing it from the other side and thinking it was his dad, if a mere sight of his parents in the Erised Mirror can make him happy enough to produce a Patronus, actually thinking they're alive would generate enough power for a corporeal Patronus, remember, the memory doesn't even need to be real, just very powerful.

24:10 There's a non corporeal patronus and a corporeal patronus. This first one he casts is a non corporeal one, hence why you don't see the stag. He's a newb 😅 As Lupin said, it's a complicated spell even for the most advanced wizard. Later in the movie he produces a corporeal one. I like to think he manages to do it because it was a life or death situation and he was saving himself and his dad's best friend from death. In the first scenario he's using it, it's just a boggart and he's with Lupin.

What's wrong with the shrieking shack is that it is called like that cause during Lupin's time at Hogwarts he used as a safe place to transform and he hurt himself instead of letting go and hunt other people and the students heard his screams and stared calling it the shrieking shack! The book has much more lore about this and the whomping willow a swell ;)

When Lupin asked Harry whether he was sure he wanted to learn Patronus, I think he meant it as a warning that since it was advanced magic meant for 5th or 6th years, Harry may not ultimately be able to do it. He just didn't want him to get discouraged I suppose. I think Lupin and Mc Gonagell were only good teachers at Hogwarts.

In the books they explain the patronus comes in two forms the shield form we see in the first scene and the animal spirit form which is more powerful than the shield. But I think your right on why jk Rowling wrote it that way, I've never thought of that Also the dementors are a physical representation of depression. It's not a plothole. The opening scene of Order of the Phoenix has Harry use an Patronus blast against the dementors when they're chasing him and Dudley. It can take several forms, and only in its most advanced form does it turn into a corporeal being.
