Fun Fact: Toothless hesitating before letting Hiccup touch him was actually a glitch in the animation but the animators felt it fit so good with the what was happening, so they kept it in.

This is a rumour, it was all animated by hand and there are behind the scenes featurettes where the filmmakers talk about that scene. The eye opening when the camera passes hiccup's knife however was a glitch they kept in, it's stated in the director's commentary, and this is likely where the rumour started by mixing these two up.

Toothless did not fly reach hiccup to rescue him. He used everything he had to climb out of that gully, and then he ran as fast as he could on foot, and then when he got to the arena, he leapt in the air, plasma blasted the bars, and dove right in.

I think that a lot of people miss the detail that when Astrid apologises to Hiccup, toothless makes the flight pleasant and stops doing crazy barrel rolls. We see this kind of action again when Stoic apologses after thinking his son is dead, and only then does toothless reveal him to be alive. Love you toothless man 😭

I haven’t seen anyone speak about in this comment section but there’s a theory when toothless is trying to reach hiccup from falling in the fire, the only way he could was by biting his leg, and that’s how he became an amputee… basically they both were the cause of each others missing parts

I love this film so much ❤ And thank you for understanding Stoic. He might seem like a bad father, but he really did want the best for Hiccup, and he was protecting his people. From his perspective, dragons were the enemy. (And it’s implied his wife was killed by dragons). His character development is so good. That moment when he said, “You’re not a Viking. You’re not my son,” really hit hard. Especially when Stoic felt the guilt hit him immediately, like he wanted to take it back, but he was still being stubborn so he forced himself to keep going. And then telling Hiccup he was proud to call him his son 🥺❤️

That one time Hiccup brought Toothless into the village, at night, was because the rope tying them together got stuck. 😂 Also, Toothless did not fly when he saved Hiccup from the Monstrous Nightmare; the show made it very clear he was STRUGGLING to even get out of the area hes usually in. He literally just ran there, and what you saw was him jumping and diving into the arena. The high screeching sound doesn't mean he's going fast, it means he's getting ready to shoot. So no. There were NOT any plot holes.

I think you missed the scene where toothless was trying to crawl out of the pit. The screeching is that sounds when he is shooting fire. Toothless didn’t fly. He was SO desperate to save Hiccup that he crawled out of the lake hole.
