It's not the first guitar Jackson made because Randy Rhodes played Jackson in 1981 or 82

@@EssexRecordingStudios When I saw Jay Reynolds with this guitar in KERRANG! magazine in 1985, I had to have one! Called Jackson, went through the process and 6 months later my "Pointy V" arrived! J0617.

@@EssexRecordingStudios what do you think is this guitar worth?
@EssexRecordingStudios5 жыл бұрын
It's really hard to say because we have obviously seen the crazy number Fender number 1 serial just sold for at Christie's, but there was a major artist as the current owner and selling for charity which always brings in silly money. Fender has more mass market appeal than Jackson and Jackson currently does not have any major mega stars on their roster. The popularity of metal and rock is on the decline as are guitar sales in general....but the popularity of rare vintage instruments is on the rise.

Essex Recording Studios I started playing in 85,and my first real guitar was a Jackson....I didn’t know this one existed,I always thought the Rhodes was the first Jackson from the early 80’s.....very cool example of Grover’s work back then.....I can’t begin to imagine the price tag this thing would command...

This is not the first serialized Jackson. This is serial number 1 of the J series serial numbers. The First serialized Jackson was RR0000 which was given to Randy’s mom. Also, at 2:36, that prototype was Not for Randy. His 4 prototypes were already completed by the time that one was made. That guitar went to Gary Phil from Sammy Hagar’s band.

Where'd you get the data on the sequencing of the prototypes?

Historic Jackson for sure - AND the two Vergat V's! Nice video. Just a side note, the Robbin Crosby reference isn't correct - he had nothing to do with this one other than maybe seeing it in the San Dimas shop and wanting something similar (or was that the Dave Linsk DR?). If Mr. Witte says differently I'll believe him, but I don't think RC is connected to that guitar at all. Cool stuff for sure!
@EssexRecordingStudios5 жыл бұрын
It was a lot of info for me to take in and remember on this whole collection but yes from what I remember earlier today he did in fact have this guitar and then sold it to the guy that sold it to it's current owner. Video of the Dave Linsk guitar (Double Rhoads) coming as well ;)
@auntacid555 жыл бұрын
Jay Reynolds himself told me that he received the guitar from Robbin Crosby.
@wretchedrider21572 жыл бұрын
Gotta be a refinish, no? King Crosby was pretty rough on his axes, from what I've heard. But if it was only with him a short time or he didn't tour it, that's cool that it survived the 80s so well!

Delores Rhoads and Grover Jackson had an agreement when the Randy Rhoads was first available to the public in 1983... to give $100 from every Randy Rhoads Student or Custom to the Musonia School of Music. I don't know the details, or how long this arrangement lasted... but it's a cool bit of trivia from the early Jackson days.
