Folks complimented me (or made fun of; not sure) my new bx2680 saying I got a new toy. Thanks for putting out videos like these actually showing just how capable they are for their size. You are a real master on yours and I hope to be just half a good someday. I've spent most of my time on purely geared tractors and a little with a shuttle lever. Hydrostatic drive is going to take some getting used to. I keep reaching for the shuttle lever to change direction.

Haha thanks Joel! Yes don’t worry, us sub compact tractor owners are use to hearing the hate from people who just don’t know any better.. I can’t tell you how many jobs I showed up to with my little tractor and the home owner looked at me funny.. or saying “well I can see this is gonna take awhile” and then by the end of the day they are wanting to buy one as they see just how much work I did and just how fast I did it! They are ALWAYS blown away after they see me work with my little BX and can’t Belive the amount of work they can do.. the BX will always prove people wrong specially with a good operator in the seat.. but that goes for any good tractor not just sub compacts! As for getting good with the loader.. the best thing I can tell you is practice practice practice.. get as much seat time as you can working around your property doing various jobs.. the hydro will be a bit to get use to but you’ll be surprised just how use to it you get.. I also only drove her driven before hydrostatic but now I’m fluent in both! Being a hydrostatic means you’ll be able to be MUCH more productive when doing any type of loader work, any time your moving material, digging material, or grading with your loader you’ll be so happy you got a hydrostatic! Keep me posted with how things go and how you end up liking your new tractor, and congrats on your new purchase!

As has been said, you are a master operator. I hope to be half as good someday. You use that powerful grapple with the precision and accuracy of a pair of tweezers and grade with the bucket in a way that makes it look like anyone could do it (which is definitely not the case). Dude, that was amazing. It would be great to see it slowed down some to see how you move the controls while modulating the hydrostatic to give the most power while still being precise.

Nothing I like better than Bucket work and I've extended my Garden 4 to 5 feet for the last 2 years and I still have almost 100 more feet I can clear as I need to. I'm gonna have to watch your Grapple video as I do have a few big piles on my back acre that could be cleaned up after I get my tractor back from having the Quick attach put on that is. I'm sure you will come up with a good solution to your ramp issue.

Hi Mike Great job. Those clean up videos can sometimes be my favorite videos. The immediate results and satisfaction and overall good feelings when it's done are hard to beat. What a transformation you made to that yard. It looks fantastic. I am gonna jump on the bandwagon and tell you that you handle your tractor and attachment s really good. I enjoy watching you work with your equipment. Mostly because, like you said in one of your other comments, you work the crap out of them. Like they are intended. Hey thanks Ed! I appreciate the kind words buddy and sorry I’m only just now seeing your comment. I don’t abuse my tractor or at least not on purpose or because of mis use. It def gets worked hard and each time I use it she gets a workout but it also gets an astounding amount of work done for me in the process. Thanks for the comment Ed!

Nice work and nice equipment. For what it’s worth I’ll pass on a suggestion that was made to me when I operated my tree farm and landscape business. That is to take some short pieces of 4x4 or 6x6 and spike them together to make blocks that will nicely fit under the rear of the trailer frame where the ramps attach. These will take the bulk of the load when you are driving on and off on your trailer. They will also keep the trailer from trying to jack up the truck during these times. Keep up the good work!
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! I appreciate the suggestion.. when I had my single axle trailer I actually welded on those “weld on trailer jacks” to each rear corner of the trailer. I got them from harbor freight and they works great.. whenever I was loading something heavier I would pivot the rear jacks down to support the load as my old trailer was a single axle and boy would it put a lot of stress on both the trailer frame and upward stress on the truck hitch when I loaded and unloaded.. the nice thing about this trailer tho is since it’s a heavy duty tandem axle the truck/trailer really don’t even move much with the weight of the tractor when I load/unload so I prolly won’t do that with this trailer. But building a nice little square block would be good to have around for when I’m loading wavier objects to stiffen up the rear so it doesn’t drop when loading/unloading. Thanks for your comment 👍🏻

Great work cleaning up your dad's property. I'm sure he really appreciates the help. I lost my dad last October. Enjoy your time with him while you have it. ;) Quick question on the grapple. About how much would you say you have invested in it with the frame, rakes, and grapple? I'm looking at Artillan or Everything Attachments for my BX23S when I get it. I also plan on either ordering the BXPanded hydraulic gauge to test my loader pressure or maybe build one like Lucas did on Peek's Peak Hobby Homestead. From what I've read and seen on KZbin, 2000 PSI is the sweet spot. Thanks for the info and the insight. Be careful out there!

Hey thanks buddy! I am very sorry to hear you recently lost your father. I could only imagine how hard that was to get through. Your right life moves way too fast and you gotta be a good person and spend time with the ones you love cuz you’ll never know when it can all suddenly end. As for the grapple setup, if you search “artillian grapple” on Google and find their website link, all their prices will be there.. you’ll need to buy a diverter valve kit or 3rd function which can vary from $500-$900.. I would go with a summit 3rd function valve like I bought because it’s the best kit you can find for the money and it’s a true 3rd function seen here kzbin.info/www/bejne/enemo6OerJibiMk you’ll also need a the Artillian fork frame which I think is about $700 and one of their grapple sections which I forget what the price is on that.. artillian products are NOT cheap BUT the Stregth and quality is unmatched! Also once you have their fork frame you can then use buy their pallet forks and stump buckets and other useful attachments to go in it.. I have videos on nearly every attachment and upgrade on my tractor.. very detailed videos. As for the hydraulic pressure, I have done maybe 3-4 videos on this where I fully explain hydraulic pressures and what I feel the best range of pressure is and why.. and have even done testing with the bx showing how much of a shim will deliver how much pressure and how much more lift you can gain from it.. below I’m gonna link a few videos for you that I think you’d find useful.. but search around on my channel cuz I litterally cover just about everything there is to know about the Kubota BX. 👍🏻 kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5uXg6R-Ytanf6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX_PcmVqh6tkeMU kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2qloH9slNSrY7s kzbin.info/www/bejne/baicYZdsqtCEaac kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqW8i4B8n7mrsKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqekmYGafd6hetU kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnyVk4SDe8mfoac And I have MUCH MUCH more! I have a massey ferguson gc1723e and a want to put ballast in the back probably make my own box out of Cement... how much weight is on you 3 point? Thanks ... love the grappler wish I had one

The GC1723 is an awesome tractor! I have about 600-640lbs total ballast on my tractor which includes the rear tires being filled and all that. Usually for most people around 400-500lbs is a good place to be.. I have my hydraulic pressure cranked up so I run a bit more than the average person as I need it to keep my tractor rear on the ground and to stay productive 👍🏻

Very nice. I wonder if you think your original grapple style is any less than the new iron fist one? Would the iron fist have helped you any better?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tekker, the original grapple design works VERY well.. I like it a lot because it’s simple and it just works.. I feel that doing detailed work would be easier with the original grapple because you do not have a varying clamp.. you know right where it’s gonna close every single time.. tho I have never used the new iron fist but do plan to some day try it out, so the new iron fist could be just as easy.. but being that it’s variable and adjustable as far as where and when it clamps.. I’m not sure if it would be as easy to know right where to set it when grabbing say a smaller rock or what have you in a timely fasion as I did a few times in this video. Where the iron fist really shines tho IMO from what Iv seen is grappling very large piles of debris as well as it being able to pinch fully shut on even the smallest of objects with out them jostling loose.. as the iron fist not only has a wider opening but also closes much much tighter.. so I feel it’s def got its Benefits but until I use one for myself it’s gonna be hard for be to give you a good answer. Thanks for watching!

Do you have a video with your ballast weight set up?
@BiffsEquipment

I have a few.. I’ll try and link them all below for you.. one is of how I built/designed my rear weight bracket.. and another one I can think of is where I talked about the weights I have and why.. and another one is on me building the weight bracket cart for the weight bracket.. I’ll see what I can link below for ya 👍🏻 This is the video where I talk about how I built my weight bracket (keep in mind it’s one of my original videos): kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3WypnZodtGXn5o Here is where I talked about my weights and what brand/type I use with a comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2qloH9slNSrY7s Here is where I built my own front weight bracket: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5KXi5WEatKMj5o And here is where I built my own weight bracket cart: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJfRo6yuaJdjo7c I’m sure I have many other videos talking about the rear weights also but you’ll have to search around a bit. There was one where I removed a bunch of stumps on my property and at the end of the video I talked about how great the added weight was and why it helps.. think it was this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqekmYGafd6hetU

The two hook on your grapple to hold your bucket for transport was made for that ? Is it an option ?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Those hooks you are referring to are called “grapple fangs” they build them as an acsessorie to their grapple for an add-on. I love the fangs cuz they allow the grapple to take better bits of brush and odd sized material and also help to hold in smaller logs/debris as you saw in this video. It just so happens that they also double as a bucket holder which I love 😂

Out of curiosity, is there typically a lot of slop (play) on a bx fel? I just got my bx2680 today and had to play with it a bit and noticed quite a bit of play in the curl function.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Hey Joel, yes there will be some slop or play but on a brand new tractor most your slip or play should only really be coming from the hydraulic cylinders when the engine is not running .. you should be able to move the bucket up and down some as the engine is off this is totally normal and the John Deere 1 series also does this. Now if your talking about alot of play being in the curl cylinder pins then that is not very normal if it’s a brand new tractor.. tho it may just need some grease too.. how many hours are on it and when was it greased last? Be sure to grease your loader using “Moly” grease and do it once every 10 hours give or take. Also be sure to check all your wheel lug nuts, hydraulic lines, and loader mount bolts every 5-10 hours for the first 50 or so hours as they will often come loose on a brand new machine until you get the machine broke in.. this is very important so you don’t cause damage down the road. Also check your fluid levels! Transmission fluid will settle as it works all the air out from being freshly built especially the front axle.. be sure to check these often till you hit your 50 or so hour mark.. your front dif will no doubt be low on fluid at some point as you break it in as the front axle allows for many pockets of air to be trapped that can take many hours to work all the air out.. don’t do what so many guys do and find that after 100+ hours of use their hydraulic oil or axle fluid level isn’t even on the dip stick cuz it happens all the time. Stay safe!

@@BiffsEquipment Thanks for all the great advise. Tractor only has one hour on it. The dealer did a great job greasing all the components. The front axle is full and the hydraulic is as well. Somehow they missed the coolant though so I need to get some. Thanks for the advise on lug nuts and loader bolts. I would have never thought to check those out.

I meant to make another comment once I figured out what was wrong. Heads-up, it was all my fault. It began to irritate me that the bucket would just flop all around when I was using it. I ended up calling the service department at the dealership I bought it at and talked to them and they asked if I would send them a video of exactly what was going on. I did, and they said that wasn't normal and they would be by the next morning to pick the tractor up to take it to the shop. 8am they were there to take the tractor, and around noon they brought it back saying they took the cylinders apart and went through the tractor and couldn't find anything. After messing around with the tractor they discovered they were doing the same thing I was....keeping the rpm's at the low end of what Kubota indicates on the rpm guage for FEL work. It has to be WOT for the small hydraulic pump to work correctly. Since then I haven't had a problem at all. I just need to remember this tractor needs to be at full throttle.

It’s going good Doug thanks for asking. Been working hard every weekend on it trying to finish up the roof now. We got all the Perlins up last weekend and this coming weekend I’m hoping to start on sheeting the roof, once that’s done the most tedious work should be behind us. Hope your doing well!

No straps on the bucket, where’s dot when you need them.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
I believe the bucket would need to be “secured” not strapped.. being that the bucket is clamped down tight into the grapple it is secured.. tho it’s only a 3 minute drive to where I went on this job.. if it was any longer than say a 5 minute drive then I woulda thrown a strap on the grapple lid to ensure the hydraulic clamping force on the grapple lid did not seep down during the drive. I doubt DOT would give me a hard time about it, tho I could throw a strap on the bucket too for good looks if I was was worried about it, but that bucket wasn’t going anywhere..
