You can also become an officer via Direct Commission if you work in a field that the army needs such as medicine, law, cyber, chaplain, etc

If you become a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, can you choose where you want to go, or do they station you to a battalion, company, or platoon?

At the company level, when promoted to 1LT you will either be assigned an XO position or remain a platoon leader.
