Great video, very useful and informational content. I appreciate it very much. Going in for a skills/consideration interview for my first position as an EMT at a local hospital in St. Louis tomorrow morning. Most definitely gave me some things to keep in mind. Would love to see more videos educating new comers to generalized EMS pertinent criteria/info

This is why Im scared of going back to school. I have my GED which is Diploma equavilent to like 90% of places. But I know I'm gonna get judged and picked over by the super smart person with post secondary. If I go back to school and get into debt, I want to know I will get the career I want.

I feel the same exact way. Also I'm 28 I'm afraid that I'm already to old to start now to become an EMT. Idk I really want to do it but I have alot of doubts

​@@666antichrist I just finished my EMT B program at my community college a week ago. In my class, (before we moved online) there was a wide variety of people looking to get their certification. I would say most people were 21-30 yrs old. One guy that I liked was 40 yr old veteran. There was also another guy that was maybe 50 or so, he had experience as a marine and was in the PD. You're not too old to become an EMT. Age isn't really all that important. What's important is if you're willing to put in the work to learn to become a good emt. You can't be shy or embarrassed about your age, ems takes too much courage and humility for that. Learn what you can about the job, and if you're interested, just go for it.

Trades like this are a lot better in my opinion. I got a cs/math degree that I never even used. The jobs are sitting behind a desk. I truly recommend doing kind of trade work like this, EMS, Firefighter, plumber, electrician etc. This job has a lot more meaning it seems compared to some college corporate job.

How is he a full time firefighter but it says he’s just a EMT ? And he makes 30k a yr

Some parts of the country don’t make much, on the west coast he’d be making over 50k-60k/yr... but in his area the cost of living is far lower. He can buy a house on that money in his area It’s all relative... now if only an EMT and not a firefighter, pay much lower, no matter where you are

@20 20 On the west coast you have to be cross trained as an EMT or Paramedic along side the Firefighter certs before any Fire departments will even consider your job application for testing.
