I’m still on the initial free trial. The app and all the information is really premium, and the remote start works flawlessly. If I have to pay a subscription later at least I know the features are high quality.

It's been that way for years. Our 2011 GX had the same thing. We rarely used it though because if you opened the door to get in it kills the engine so you have to start it again every time.

What? Silly title. The old outgoing GX rides well. If anything, I suspect the lower trims of the new GX to ride worse because of the lack of standard KDSS to help keep it planted around turns on roads. Gate-keeping previously standard features is the antithesis of the continuous improvement philosophy of the older models.

Great videos always. For me I don’t see anything that the GX 550 has that says to me I got to sell my GX 460. I would say the biggest disappointment is the fact he gets the same city MPG.

If that’s the biggest disappointment, I’d say it’s doing a damn good job overall then. I don’t think it’s meant to sway GX460 owners right now, but provide an offering that can remain a popular Lexus choice for the type of use that a GX customer expects.

@@BigAltimaEnergy719 I think KDSS is primarily for offroad since it is usually locked up during onroad driving and loosens up the hydraulic system only when a difference of swaybar pressure is noticed.

Yes, if your hands are full , carrying something heavy, you’ll have an issue holding the button to fold the seat. You’ll need to remember to fold it down before you go into the store to collect your items. 😊

Well thanks for this review, I was excited to see the new Mazda CX70 but I’m kind of liking this better. Don’t know why it took Mazda sooo long to introduce the CX70 after all it looks like a CX90 with the rear seat removed and some plastic trim changes, mechanically identical I believe. Could be Mazda is too late to the table. Tim it looks like in your in the back seat when Jill is driving, really shows off the seat adjustment. Kinda looking forward to see the Toyota Land Cruiser also. The Land Cruiser and the GX550 look to be sister vehicles sharing frames and all. I do like the utilitarian style over the Mazda. Again thanks and keep on keeping us informed. We make better decisions with a little knowledge.

Seems to fit the niche pretty well. I think the whole overland trend is still in full effect and this should appeal to those customers, and perhaps bring along a few typical Lexus aficionados. Would be cool to see how it compares to the Ineos Grenadier, being one of the only other BoF off-roader types of this general price category.

You don't have to be an overlander to appreciate the room you gain by eliminating the useless (for me) third row seat. Even when folded down in any SUV they take up valuable space.

Hey guys, first of all, I really enjoyed this review. Fantastic work both of you, thank you so much. I’m not sure this style of review is for everyone but for people that are really interested to see how things work and fit and so forth, it was really good. I think I heard you correctly when you said that remote start feature will go away and you have to pay for an app? I just want to say to Lexus…(if they are paying attention to these comments), I really enjoy this truck, it’s high on my list for my next vehicle, but if this is true, 10 wild horses will not be able to pull me into your dealership. This bull crap about paying for heated seats and remote starters is 💯 non-deal for me. You have to be out of your mind… please tell me I heard wrong

I’ve been checking the seat bolstering of these “ luxury “ vehicles seats and the Toyota and Lexus appear from the videos to have very thin seating. Older persons will never be able to manage a long drive or travel on these seats. Anyone maybe see it differently?

Try travelling to Australia and test drive the Land Cruiser 300 and Fortuner Crusade. Those feel and are more luxirious than the new GX550.

Jill, I know the Lexus people may have told you to say it, but those "hood humps" are not aligned with the tires whatsoever. As you are saying it, we're all looking at the video and the tires are clearly outside of those humps. It looks like the inside edge of the tire is aligned with the outside edge of the fender hump. So strange that they passed that info as you were not the first to repeat it.

No kdss except overtrail plus = body roll and bad driving dynamics. All gx460 come with kdss which allows the car to be flat when cornering. This is what made gx460 such a special vehicle. This is a big issue for gx550.

A great looking vehicle, but face it, not many people will off-road with this Land Rover look alike. In my opinion, they should have put the V6 in the Land Cruiser too, and the new 4Runner should have get the 4 cylinder engine.

Probably one of the worst reviews I have suffered through in a while. This is one big box of non-informative, highly subjective garbage. Way too much time screwing around with rear seat size, it's meant for small kids - period stop. Move on. Most other comments are a total waste of time.

i test drove yesterday.............very dissapointed, drive like toyota, not even 20% close to the old V8...pass
