Can we acknowledge that Steven wrote this nearly 30 years prior to this performance... Can you imagine writing something at 17 and having to play it in....to your 70s bc its that good and everyone wants to hear it.. imagine playing that song thousands of thousands of times every single night. I would hate it. Who wouldn't? Great song nonetheless!!!

I went to college in Boston in the late 70s. Though Aerosmith had "made it" they would still play in the small venues that got them signed to their record company. I worked in a dealership outside of Boston back in the 80's. Aerosmith came in often to rent large vans often. They drove wherever they could back then. They were very cool and down to earth. As a smaller boy I had a paper route and one of my customers was Brad Whitfords parents home. Fridays was collection day and I couldn't wait to go to that home. They would open the door and on the walls were glass framed albums. Good Aerosmith memories

Seen over 200 concerts in my 52 years on this earth and the single best concert ever was Aerosmith 1988. GNR opened for them, Axl passed out drunk, Slash played a solo and left.. Steven Tyler came out as most of the crowd was leaving.. He apologized and said that they would play GNR set list and then theirs.. They played better live and all of GNR's songs, then took break and played their songs. They sound the best live and they FUCKING rock..

These Boston boys were so good so early in their career, they all got carried away, then got it back together and kept going and going. This song was written at the piano by Steven Tyler, their front man. Joe Perry took that melody and created that intro....so beautiful. 🎼🎶🎸🎹🎤😎 Read the other comments/ suggestions for what’s next from Aerosmith, I agree with everyone- they have so many great songs. On the other hand, at some point with your headphones, we must get Led Zeppelin in your ears. Now - that’s just my opinion, however, I’m sure if you start with either The Immigrant Song or Kashmir, but let’s see what others might say......and.....go!

Sure you can review their radio hits but if you really want to get a feel for what they were about give a listen to their other songs. Yeah, of course his voice was stronger on the studio version for various reasons. That said, while this particular performance wasn’t as strong (though still solid), his voice is still crazy good and comparatively intact even to the present day. There are many performances recorded well after this one, of this song and many others, that showcase how strong his voice was and is.

best back to back nights of my life. 1994, with my future wife and friend who flew up from Okinawa; saw Aerosmith live at Budokan, in Tokyo and met Charlie and Scott from Anthrax at the show. Next night, saw White Zombie and Pantera live at the Shin-Yokohama Civic Center, talked to the sound guy before the concert started and got a pick from Dimebag Darrell, then went with the Pantera road crew (shout out to Kit!) and J. from White Zombie to a bar in Roppongi called Y.Y. Pips. Kit from the road crew would end up getting shot after being taken hostage 8 years later the same night Dime was murdered onstage at the Almarosa..... That guy was the coolest Texan this Marine ever met, and i am from Texas!

The big difference with the studio version is that Stephen Tyler (lead singer) was much younger and his voice was so much better on the high notes. Woodstock’94 had so many legendary performances. If you weren’t there you can watch video footage of the entire festival. It takes about two days to watch all the footage.

Well... as has been pointed out by others, his voice was better when this was first recorded and it seems, although I could be wrong, that this was just a touch slower than the studio version. But it's still Steven Tyler and the song is recognizable so... Have a listen to the studio version and decide for yourself.

I saw this live in Nashville at Starwood amphitheater (Nashvilles biggest mistake there hasn’t been a decent concert here since) but that song live was without another word to even describe it I’ll say it was an experience Steven Tyler, people love or hate him but nobody in the world can deny his talent, he almost mesmerizes you into a trance ❤️😊

Your a little late to the party, but I won't hold you responsible, there's a lot of good music out there. Aerosmith have been at it since 1973, the original Bad Boys From Boston. Since you mentioned his screaming, one of Steven Tyler's nicknames is "The Demon Of Screamin'". His other one goes with his parnter in crime Mr. Joe "Fuckin"" Perry, they were known as The Toxic Twins, due to rampant drug use, Hey it's the 70's and the 80's, ya know. Brad Whitford is the other guitar player, really good, as are bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer. Blues, Rock, Metal, Ballads, and the first real rock/rap mash-up with Run DMC. Have fun with them.

Steven Tyler is pure musicianship. I remember watching him on the first episode of season 10 of American Idol, first episode of him judging, and they run into a guy who is just really into it:
