Actually, you got the history wrong. Whoever told you that was mistaken. You need to look it up. Beretta got a contract to make the 92 for the Brazilian army and when the contract was up they sold their factory, machinery, and the plans etc. to Taurus, who then began to make their own version of the 92 on the same machinery with the same tools Beretta had used. Beretta did not contract with Taurus to make the 92.

Beretta made frame safely because it was required by the Brazilian military it wasnt a Taurus design, Beretta moved away from that feature when the contract was up, so it didn't hurt to sale the tooling along with the factory, Beretta literally just walked away and left everything even the employees and supplies so the first few runs might was well be 99.9 Beretta quality with the exception of the Taurus name change, the trigger gard and other features didn't change till way later

I have the PT92 AF-D model. Had the gun now for about 5 years and would not trade it for the world. The reason for that is that after owning it for a year I pulled the box out and found that it was made on my wife's birth date . A real keeper, both of them.

The Taurus PT 92 is the best, most tested product they produce. I love the frame decocker system a bit more than the Beretta 92. I like the matte finish on this baby.

I bought my PT92 after i bought my Taurus made Rossi 92. Both guns are 100% reliable and verry well made for the money. Im from Germany and guns are verry expensiv here. A Beretta 92fs is about 1200€. I paid 650€ for my PT92 with rail. Best wishes.

As a Brazilian and owner of a Beretta 92fs, the more noticeable differences in terms of quality are fit and finish. When I shake a loaded Taurus PT92, there's a rattle while nothing can be heard when I shake the Beretta. The Beretta finish looks so much better looking up close. But still, the PT92 is a great reliable gun, has more capacity, picatinny rail, the frame mounted safety and the biggest advantage wich is the price. I want to get one as a beater since my Beretta is my baby 😄

@Teko Moku As far as PT92s made over the last 10 years or so, the biggest things I've seen quality wise on the PT92 that haven't been great are the grip screws, I've seen a handful of them that had either completely stripped screws out of the box, or nearly stripped ones. Kind of a silly issue, when most of the rest of the gun seems reasonably solid. I know they can be replaced, but it's kind of a pain when the "V" shaped safety spring underneath the left side grip flies out because the grip came loose. I also had a locking block shatter in under 200 rounds, and also one gun that randomly would de-cock itself while I was firing it, but probably those things are rare anomalies, compared to the general crappiness of the grip screws. For what it's worth, I like the Taurus design better, I just wish they'd clean up a little bit of the more minor issues sometimes seen on these guns.

@@danielgreen6547 Yeah i have one and the grip screws on it love to rust and are extremely soft. Last time I did a deep clean of the gun the safety spring flew out and i lost it for 2 hours. Other than that I've never had a malfunction and the thing is nice and accurate.

I had the Taurus PT92 an older model than this i got mine in 1995 used, it didn't have the Hammer Release button if you wanted to bring the hammer back down you had to hold the hammer with your thumb and than pull the trigger to release it slowly down.. But all in it's the same gun easy to clean the most Accurate Handgun i owned, i could hit a dime 100 yards away no problem with that gun, because of the 5 " barrel it's so accurate.. Probably the best Handgun combat ready i have ever seen, If i had to get into a gun fight (Which i which i always try to avoid) LOL i would choose this gun hands down it's also got a bit more weight than most Glock's it has a lot less recoil, i loved the way the gun was balanced made it so easy to fire very rapidly with accuracy... You can get one used for as low as $400.00..

It is a Beretta! You're correct! Just like all AR15s are made by 3 plants here in America. They are all made in 3 plants, they just come out with different company logos and different bells and whistles. Just like the tool world Milwaukee, Rigid, Ryobi, and Hart are made by TTI. It's the same in the reptile community with products that cost an arm and leg, but you can get the same stuff at a hardware store for 100s cheaper

This pistol from Taurus is definitely one to get. I actually own two of them. I got my dad's Taurus PT99 which is the PT92 but with adjustable rear sight. And he got that back in March of 1990. And as far as I can remember there was never any major or basically any minor problems with it except for some reloads my dad made. But that's because the casing weren't reshaped properly. And it shoots real nice just like I remember when I was a kid. So I got me a more modern version with the pic rail and it also shoots like a champ. You'll get zero complaints from me on this particular Taurus. More than likely I will end up passing them on to my son in about 30 years God willing.

I have one that was made in 1987 with a parkerized finish and only a thumb safety. It is still a beauty. Taurus added the hammer drop capability in the mid 1990's. Also have had a PT99 that has adjustable sights and a PT917 which is a 4 inch barrel with a full size frame. I miss my old PT101 which was a 40SW version that was discontinued years ago.

09:59 You can disassemble a PT92/PT100 "Jet Li style". I doubt anyone has done this in a real situation, but it definitely can be done. We did this in the early 90s with an UNLOADED gun held firmly by my friend, I could grasp the slide with my left hand. Index Finger pushes the button & thumb rotates disassembly lever downward & pull slide & barrel back off the frame. We switched & my friend could do it too. Not nearly the speed it was done in the movie & you'd have to grip the slide exactly where you could push that button & actuate that lever. It only worked with left hand, right handed couldn't drop the lever.

My favorite pistol. I'm glad to see the PT92 finally getting respect; reviews have been rare until recently! Back in the day, Beretta won a contract to provide pistols to the Brazilian military. Like the US, Brazil wanted guns make locally so Beretta built a factory. When the contract was fulfilled, the factory was sold to Taurus. I actually have one of those early PT92s, and it's identical to the contemporary Beretta. Over the years, each company refined their pistols in slightly different ways, but some parts (recoil springs and locking blocks) still interchange. I also have an early '90s PT92 with the hammer-drop safety, and prefer it to the Beretta. WATCHING your review, I'm getting the itch to get a current-production pistol!
@jackbauer5239

Taurus did not change the safety. Original Beretta 92’s and Taurus 92’s were identical. Beretta eventually adopted the slide mounted safety, abandoning the old seer blocking, frame mounted safety that Taurus has maintained on their Model 92’s to this day. Taurus has changed the finish several times over the years, added a rail, and made the safety ambidextrous as well. Taurus was also quite innovative with having a decocker on their model 92 while still having essentially the same style of safety mechanism. Great video!

I am the owner of a Beretta 92fs 9mm that I bought waaay back in 1988 (After I saw Die Hard) 😆 If you know anything about Berettas, you know Riggs had a Beretta 92f in Lethal Weapon and Bruce Willis had the Beretta 92fs 🙂 So with that being said, the Taurus PT92 THEORETICALLY is not a Beretta. Is it a good gun? Yes. But does it have the same value of a Beretta? No. And that's what separates the two.

The beretta m9 was always my dream gun. Always. Finally went up to the gun store yesterday and saw they had a M9A2 for a few hundred dollars more than this PT92-ASF. *I actually picked up the 92 and was genuinely confused why it said Taurus on the side and so was Everyone else who was with me* I learned the history about the gun right then and there by researching and turns out it's basically the same gun 😂 just with a different name. I know it's not the literal *M9* but at the same time it basically is. And the satisfaction of having an M9 as my first gun feels so good. Since I was a kid I've always planned on that being my first gun. And it looks and feels so much better than I anticipated!! I of course got a lot of crap from some people on Reddit because "Ew TaUruS" and that's from people who were purely elitist or had no idea about the history of the gun(again, it's literally a M9 with a different name) If anyone is on the fence about this, get it. You won't be disappointed. And if you don't want to take my word, you have a crap ton of videos and articles over the PT92. With some even considering it to be one of the most underrated pistols at least here in America

I had a beautiful stainless PT92. I sent it back to the factory and had them make the magazine release extra hard. I’ve got a thing with fear of an accidental mag drop. I spent some time in Scotland as a kid when The Troubles were going on just across the water. Look up The Corporal Killings. That is why I like a tight mag release.
@eyeslo4206
@eyeslo4206 20 сағат бұрын
My sister just got an m9 not too long ago and she wanted me to show her how to clean it. Well, i ended up doing more than that because the grip didn't clear the mag release and was binding it up making it hard to drop a mag. Easy fix. I just removed the grip and used a dremel drum sander to clearance it. After, it was better but still garbage even with working lube in. The grip doesn't have clearance for your thumb as you press the release so you pretty much have to use the very tip of your thumb to press it. If that wasn't enough, the guide rod is plastic. Yeah, plastic. Unbelievable.
