FIRST LOOK at Amtrak 301

By now it's routine: if there is a new Heritage Unit headed through town, I'll be out for it! At Midnight I caught Amtrak's third new heritage unit for their 50th Anniversary, ALC-42 301. This particular unit is painted the same way E8 4316 was to kick off Amtrak on May 1st, 1971. While the scheme was short lived and a true one-off, it was still an important milestone for the early moments of the railroad. To see this replicated on a new unit was quite the sight. Pay close attention to the amount of pointless arrows in the video and let me know what you think of this locomotive in the comments below!

I work at the Sacramento Siemens facility, there's something special about this particular locomotive. Employees and onsite contractors have been taking pictures and posing with it the last few weeks.

Is it just me or is it weird that at Toledo Union Station track one goes all the way down the platform but track two right next to it is cut apart in multiple places, like in a spot where there is this weird driveway sorta thing there are just no rails fro track two but for track 3, which on the other side of the next platform the track go all the way through on that one. Does anybody know why this is?
