By now it's routine: if there is a new Heritage Unit headed through town, I'll be out for it! At Midnight I caught Amtrak's third new heritage unit for their 50th Anniversary, ALC-42 301. This particular unit is painted the same way E8 4316 was to kick off Amtrak on May 1st, 1971. While the scheme was short lived and a true one-off, it was still an important milestone for the early moments of the railroad. To see this replicated on a new unit was quite the sight.
