Thanks for this. I am thinking of buying a lenovo micro pc and installing this as step x+1 of my homelab journey. I don't see any links so had to find the details myself. Most lacking is no where to subscribe for updates on zimaos. I guess I will have to rely on you to keep me up to date.

How would we format a drive to prepare it for Zima OS (as the boot or as an additional drive)

If you're going to put the OS on it, you would just plug it into your system and select it during install and it will take care of itself. If you want to add it as an additional drive, just plug it in and then you should be able to SSH into your server and run the command 'lsblk' (without the quotes) and see the drive. Also, the newest version of ZimaOS should be able to see the drive and format it for you

@@DBTechYT I just found out that ZimaOS doesn't read APFS, I was so confused as to why my drive wasn't showing up, in order to format. Is it possible to move a docker to a different drive, like from onboard thin client flash to 16Gb USB?

@@sekritskworl-sekrit_studios That's not how docker works. You need to back up your docker container data to a different location before you do anything... can you tell me if Chromebook OS Acer 311 3H series be upgradeable ssd?by replacing the SSD with a higher storage one? please consider replying and make a video if you can case there are absolutely no videos and people including are not able to find anything I've done so much research but wasnt able find anything

Take the bottom of your Chromebook off. If you see a hard drive, SSD, or M.2, you can replace it. If you don't see any of those, then you can't.

Pretty new to Zima products - I have a ZimaBoard which came shipped with Debian and CasaOS and I ordered a ZimaBlade today. How do I upgrade from CasaOS to ZimaOS? The documentation is so convoluted, and I understand from your video at first it was flash the entire system in one go, but they have released an installer... does this change how to upgrade from one to the other.

I haven't looked at the new installer. I probably should now if it's available. At the time of recording this, it wasn't.

If the RAID support is good, I dont see why it wouldnt (except for the niggles that sometimes happen with Docker, as (at least CasaOS) is DEB based) but that would make a *huge* difference.

Can you explain how to passthrough a GPU through CasaOS? I'm having trouble getting my GTX 1070 to work with Emby, and I think it's because of CasaOS. Thanks!

You're going to have to get familiar with command line to get the root OS (not CasaOS) to recognize and pass through the GPU. I don't think that CasaOS can handle it natively yet.

I have been kicking around CasaOS and the derivatives. Are there any advantages using these OS's vs a NUC with Ubuntu/Debian with Portainer/Docker/Caddy/Homepage?

No real advantages to using something like this if you're comfortable with the method you listed. Some people just prefer a simple setup like CasaOS or ZimaOS and I wanted to make people aware of the new ZimaOS :)

Not currently, but I was actually thinking the other day that it would be cool if they made that possible.

Hi! Thanks for your video. English is not my language and I miss something... ZimaOS boot from USB drive (burn with Balena) or from the USB will be installed on the eMMC (on the ZimaBoard)?

ZimaOS just runs off the USB I created in the video. It does not (currently) install on the emmc of the device. They are working on a solution that will allow for the install on the the emmc though

Where is the Alist user name and password pls? Can't find it

When you start the deployment process, it tells you: "After installation, please check the initial password in the container log (Settings - TopRight - Terminal and Logs - Logs)." Once you've deployed the container, look in the logs like it says and you'll see a line that looks like this: "Successfully created the admin user and the initial password is: 9lD1KQDo" That is the user and pass that were generated for my setup.

I've glanced at Cosmos-Server a bit, but haven't installed it yet. Maybe I'll have to give it a look soon :)
