I collect books on Emily's poetry and anything with her father's signature etc. I was lucky enough to find the 1883 reunion book with a letter glued to the inside back cover from family with list of the ancestors going back to the 1600s. All was hand written. I have the funeral card from Mrs. Bianchi. It is fun searching for things like this..

I have loved visiting Emily's home! I've learned so much about her just being int his space. I've toured several times - and always walk away with something new. Great job!

I am curious to know how they came to choose this wallpaper. Is this a replica now of how her walls were when she lived there?

I do not feel the same now since they added the wallpaper. Why cant things be left alone.. Was it fallen down??NO..

Me too, I didn't like it either; a special scent of history and legacy, so to speak, is lost.

Another video on the restoration said they found fragments of the 19th century wallpaper. They even show a close up of the pieces stuck near the ceiling where they removed the ceiling that was put in after Emily was there. And the museum's website goes into more detail. The wallpaper they removed dates to after Emily's time there while the wallpaper they found fits the timeframe.

I feel Emily would not have much appreciated the meretriciousness of the wallpaper?

I have written emails to the house museum re: the house , and never received answers in the past few years. Very disappointed. I have toured the house, invited to go through the Evergreens before it even opened and could not make it but, I have a large interest in Emily Dickinson and the homes. Also, very disappointed they cut down the trees.

The trees were old and antique. They should have been left alone. A person without adornment can be more beautiful than makeup.

I'm sad when trees come down but I think the museum wants the house to be exactly like how the Dickinson family kept it. The museum's website says that the hemlock was managed by the Dickinson's to not be overgrown. Unfortunately, the hemlocks were overgrown and had not been managed in a long time. The trees caused a lot of issues probably. And the main goal is to always protect the house. There are many other trees there I think they did not touch.

Cynthia Nixon portrayed Emily Dickinson in a film in recent years--an excellent and intriguing portrayal.

So fascinating ! Oh to be a poet on pleasant street ... If I can help one fainting robin into his nest I shall not live in vain . yes , quietly passionate is a very good description of her temperament ... And thinking with a slanted view . Emily did not follow the norm .
