That is probably one of the most boring EV designs I have seen, couple that with the daft decision to put the charging flap in the front and its slow charging speed of only 10 to 80% in 45minutes even its range for a 68 kwh battery of 256miles is less than steller suggesting a not very efficient EV and the price starting with a 4 🤣 ie. starting at more than 40,000 pounds, give me a break. I can barely afford to buy bread at €6 and butter all time high at €7, milk 1L €2,2 and 1.5L €2,9. EVERYTHING is crazy expensive and a new car isn’t on most shopping lists these days. Most I know ages 30+ says either a new hybrid or a used PHEV but not an EV due to they are 2X the cost of a normal car, but again no one wants a new car in case we get yet another shitty winter in Sweden and can barely afford to heat our houses.

These reviews are hopeless. A couple of minutes on the internet and you will find it is the same car as the e:NS1 and the e:NP1 (manufactured by Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Honda respectively ) that was introduced in China late 2021 and it is basically a third gen Honda HR-V with a battery strapped on underneath. It even still has the transmission tunnel even though no transmission. You would have thought the reviewer would have mentioned that when saying there is no under centre consol storage. Top spec sells for the equivalence of 25k Pounds in China and cheapest model 20k. So if you wait til 2024 you can get a 3 year old car for twice the price it sells for in the country of manufacture that comes with a vulnerable battery and poor ground clearance.
@tkr7100
@tkr7100 Жыл бұрын
If you had watched the chinese videos more closely, you would be aware of the ground clearance. It is 19cm and it is very good. We all know that in electric cars the battery is located under the car. The transmission tunnel is also in many front-wheel drive cars. Why? Not even exhaust pipe located there? Many manufacturers have the same body with different power sources, such as ICE and BEV. Volvo, Kia, Hyundai, Opel, Peugeot, VW, Toyota, Ford etc. So there is nothing new.
@AJames-jr8kw
@AJames-jr8kw Жыл бұрын
@@tkr7100 True , many manufacturers have their first EV built on ICE car platforms but in this UK/Euro Honda reveal many of the youtube influencers reviewing state this is a dedicated EV platform when it is a modified HR-V ICE platform. I am surprised it has 19cm ground clearance. In a few of the angles the battery can be seen hanging down quite low.
@AJames-jr8kw
@AJames-jr8kw Жыл бұрын
@@tkr7100 Interesting. 19 cm you say. I'd be interested in your source especially as ghac who make the e:NP1 conveniently omit the ground clearance in their very detailed spec sheet although they do include this in the ICE engined HR-V (called Vezel). With the Vezel/HR-V they quote minium 150mm (max load) whilst the Australian spec HR-V are 195mm unladen. Given there is about 7.5cm or more of battery under the HR-V body I think you are wrong with your claim. Given the lack of official data I blew up a long shot side profile and using the 18 in wheel for scale came up with figures of 11cm for the bash plate in front of the battery (10.8 actually) and 13cm for the battery itself. This is unladen. If you have a source that says otherwise please post it.

Toyota and Honda are still pumping out BS about EVs, hydrogen so I still question their commitment to this space. Yes both have some actual EVs at long last, but they are so lacklustre / expensive that it's almost like they were sent out to die - "nobody wants our EVs ergo nobody wants EVs". Toyota has also demonstrated they don't even have the capability to make EVs and is using GAC / Aion as an OEM manufacturer. Wouldn't surprise if Honda does too.

If we're going to be offered electric SUVs that are neither particularly sporty, nor be all that useful, can we at least have some that offer us a bit of sparkle? The Honda e has bugger-all range and no bootspace worth the name but it's still desirable because it looks just right, and has an interior that is inviting. Scale that up for comfort and convenience, right-size the battery for 250 miles, give to an inch and a half more ground clearance and ruffty-tuffty the looks, and there you go. Honda can do better than this.

It’s absolutely a Honda in the company’s finest traditions. The Jazz and the Civic are excellent cars. The SUVs are dull, but so are all SUVs. Maybe I am wrong to criticise Honda for building them. Maybe people are just daft for wanting something heavier, less nimble, less efficient and more stupid. They want prestige like a Range Rover so now we have a Civic on stilts and an HRV with batteries.

The NY 1 has some drawbacks notably the range, slow battery charging rate, small boot and location of the charge point at the front of the car where it can easily be damaged in a head on collision. Having said that I would probably look to buy one when updating my crv hybrid if it wasn’t for the high price. Apparently in China Honda is selling a similar car for about half the price. I like it but the internet says this is a European car and we wont get it in the usa. Why does Europe get all the good cars and we have to deal with these monstrosities? I can't even buy a pickup truck with two doors. The whole point of a truck is the bed, and they shorten it to a useless length and put more doors on it. wtf is wrong with car makers these days? I want a small EV for every day, and a an electric truck that is actually useful as a truck. Or god forbid something that could be both of those things.

Before I could buy it, the dealer would have to let me install new wheels right there in the lot bc I wouldn’t drive it 10 ft with those hideous wheels on it. Also crazy expensive for a car that slow. Gonna have a hard time competing with the new Volvo EVs

All I can see is Mach-E. From the long front end, rear door handle location, chunky but slightly hidden lower battery bulge, and a swooshy protruding rear end.

Honda had nothing to do with the design, engineering and production of this car! Why? Because it is not a Honda! It is a BYD Atto 3 with a Honda badge on it, made by BYD for Honda with some cosmetic changes.

Dear Honda.... Electric vehicles don't need massive screens. Big screens don't save the planet, the battery powertrain is what does that. Give us our god dam buttons back...

This late to the game & with subpar millage is not a good omen, better then the Toyota half effort but, still. People want/require 400 miles range for this sort of money think Tesla.

Idiotic charge port design. Every careless bumperparker will be taking it out. Does Honda now live in a world of no streetside parking?

Why do they keep putting the charging ports in the nose of the car? Its a stupid place to put it for charging, its gets dirtiest at the front so you get dirty charging, and any front end bump and thats your charging port knackered.

Considering that it’s competitors are ALREADY well above 200kw and by the probably much higher, this is an embarrassment. It is obvious that this is a GM in all the important ways. That means it will suffer from any and all issues coming to GM with their ULTIUM and ULTIFY systems. We are already seeing tons of problems with that platform being deployed on the Hummer EV and Lyriq. This really disappoints me as I used to be a great fan of Honda. What made Honda Honda was the engineering (engine, transmission, steering). Now most of that has been farmed out to GM (far from expert in electrification) and what’s left, steering and suspension, is something they have little expertise with in regards to EVs.
