Major issue spotted already, no wiper blade. Exact same issue as the Ionic 5, which we thought they'd rectified.

Still way to expensive to charge your car at rapid chargers

It doesn't matter what arguments you put, I'm not prepared to suffer the MASSIVE depreciation and the inconvenience and they're not cheaper to run.

The Leaf is an older car by now, but it also is iconic for a reason. It is iconic for being the first affordable, mass market EV, long before Tesla was in the picture (as much as Tesla want's you to believe they were the pioneer in that regard), but it mostly is iconic for being the first EV on the market that showed, that an EV can also be a VERY GOOD CAR. Something, Nissan is generally pretty good at, and you can tell, that they really tried to put it all in there with the Leaf ZE1. Yes, going for CHAdeMO didn't work out like they hoped in Europe, but you kinda have to love them for trying, since it simply is the better standard. Leaf could do V2G before anyone else in Europe even thought about that sort of stuff. That said, it's very important to point out that despite people claiming otherwise, at least over here in Germany CHAdeMO compatible chargers quadrupled since 2018. That growth is significantly lower than that of CCS of course, but still, there never have been as many CHAdeMO chargers available ever, and especially with Aral Pulse using the Alpitronic Tripple chargers exclusively, boasting 100kW CHAdeMO plugs on every charging column, with a Leaf+ you can easily do long distance for a very good price (39c/kWh). The Leaf+ does take about 10min longer to get from 5% to 80% than a modern EV, but with the given range off over 300Km even in winter in mixed driving, and close to 300Km on the Autobahn, that equates to 20 minutes over the course of a longer journey, maybe 30 minutes over a day. Not substantial, and certainly ok for the occasional visit at the relatives. Also, rapid gate was an issue with the 40kWh Leaf, it has been fixed via a software update, bringing the Leaf to a level that equales to almost any other EV in that regard. Unless you are planning on doing 1000Km + trips regularly with no stops inbetween, for which neither of the cars in this test are the right choice by the way, you won't have an issue. Especially not with the Leaf+. Also, the Leaf DOES have thermal management, as does any Li-ion battery. It does not have active cooling. The 62kWh pack however is designed to perform multiple rapid chargers in a row, and if you hold on to best practices, drive the battery empty and the charge to 80 or 90 percent, you won't have an issue with rapid gating in day to day life at all. On the plus side, the Leaf wastes considerably less energy while charging. We are talking a few bucks every rapid charge. That is literally more money in your pocket. For most people, rapid charging will be the exception anyways. You can charge this car at home via the provided 240V charger no problem, Plug it in at 50% in the afternoon and leave with 100% next day, with the big pack that is. You don't even need a wall box. And that's why people keep buying it. It's a much better EV than people think it is, but it first and foremost is a great, reliable car. That is mainly, because it was not designed as a cheap car, but a proper mid size hatchback. It's comfortable, it rides fantastic, it's quiet, it's practical, the App and functionality there still is better than that of most other EVs, and because the successor is coming soon, you can get an amazing deal on a top spec variant. Hard to beat.

It’s annoying when car reviewers complain about the ‘cheap plasticky feel’ of certain bits and how the upholstery isn’t luxurious, or the power isn’t amazing etc. Mate, most of us are ordinary people who are driving the most popular cars like Toyota Camry etc. We’re not expecting a luxury car from that price and I would rather a comparison to ICE or EVs that are maybe +/- 10k

I don't want one (give me chic hatchbacks, saloons and sports cars), but if you are going to "SUV", you might as well go fully American and just be ridiculously big. I like the Volvo back-end, I must admit.

This is the most refined and closest to the Korean pronunciation of 'Hyundai' that I've heard so far. The other pronunciations often sound like Chinese, but you really pronounced it like the authentic Korean way. Thank you so much!!!! 🙏🙌

Do people even know that in China we have better cars for half price? And best selling category is EREVs like Li auto L7, 200km battery + petrol engine, total range 1000km.

I don't really need a 3-row hauler, but this might change my mind. With >300mi of range, it's hard to say no.

Journalists applaud oversized EV9 and the very unsafe, unsustainable building of massive SUVs continues. Not impressed by the lack of pushback from the press. I know you'll say it's not your responsibility, that's the public's job. But if journalists won't clap back against the giant loss of sustainability with 110 kWh massive 3 row SUVs, who will. We need people to make an honest assessment of this problem and address it. Manufacturers and consumers are stuck on dumb. Frustrating as hell to see these labeled as a climate solution.

Renault is nailing every ev model, cool design inspired by retro cars which were lived by generations AND not asking +40000 euro for a 'normal' daily driver like vw, ford, etc... are doing (and then complaining people don't want an ev). In no way you should call these city cars since they really do their best on the highway. You just have to charge it more often which tops up faster to 100% being a smaller battery. People need a change of mind and stop holding on to the daily rituals. Change is not always worse or terrifying.

happy to see legacy automakers making more and more EV. it does not compare with a lucid gravity in any aspect (frunk: 50 vs 227 liters, range 600 vs >700km, space, power etc), but it will be cheaper for sure. good start Hyundai! My Q is: who is gonna build the first real cool electric van, like the ID Buzz but witz 600+ km range and fast charging and some decent IT in it 🙂

Nicola...you are absolutely right. They dropped the ball calling it Capri...just generated so much backlash....the Capri was such an iconic car that you just can't bring it back as an electric SUV. The should have called it the Scorpio 🤣
