What do you mean proprietary ammo?? Is the blue ball ammo different from the traditional yellow ball ammo Nerf Rival normally comes with?

nah they are compatible, the blue is like the accustrike darts of rival, they are just more accurate then normal rival rounds (yellow). but you can use the yellow on on this balster and the blue one other blasters, they are interchangeable, he is jus doing an april fools joke.
