@@RivertonPianoCompany, Thank you! As I'm advancing in my Piano studies, the necessity to have an acoustic instrument is starting to come. And the GB1K is the world's best Baby Grand. Generally, the Brands (even the famous ones) tend to disrespect the "Small Boys". They make Babies that only sound on the high register (with that piercing spicy sound), or don't sound at all. Of course, the premium Brands (Bösendorfer, Bechstein, Fazioli, Petrof) build wonderful Babies, but they are costy children, ha ha ha. The GB1K is for small budgets and/or spaces, but a respectful instrument that sounds in each register. Lower Pianos deserve the same respect as the "Big Boys". And as Yamaha uses Bösendorfer's Strings... I played in a DGB1K ENST that is owned by a shopping mall near my home. My mother recorded me playing and I got surprised by the sound potential of that instrument. You can hear the instrument's voice even with people's noise around it. So, I'm sure too that I'll love this instrument.

You could write scripts for our videos! You're SPOT ON! Most folks don't know that Yamaha develops a specific scale design, hammer felt composition and action geometry for EVERY MODEL of piano they make. Each instrument is a recipe for a specific sound and touch profile. They made the GB1K the way they did on purpose! ...and that makes all the difference. Other manufacturers just build a great "big" grand and scale it down through a few standard sizes, etc. ...but the design features and talking points are all the same. That's not how Yamaha does it! Thanks for your great comments! Hope to see you again soon!
@JohannaA.50132 жыл бұрын
@@RivertonPianoCompany, I really believe that Yamaha should sponsor this humble promoter by giving me a GB1K! Ha haha. But with Victorian Ice-Cream Cone Legs, as I love vintage design for Pianos. And about the scale production. You said "Other manufacturers just build a great "big" grand and scale it down through a few standard sizes, etc. ...but the design features and talking points are all the same". They do that only with the big-Medium size Instruments. The 190cm sizes and under them, as I said, don't make anything special. Do you want a good instrument? Sell your soul for that. Of course, a Bösendorfer 155 will never sound like an Imperial. And the GB1K will never sound like a CFX. A Petrof "Bora" will never sound like a "Mistral". But they will be nice Babies. Not with that unlimited palette of colours, but with options, so the student already learns to interpret, rather than only pressing the keys in the right rhythm. And about the scripts, I don't believe I would help a lot, considering I'm a late beginner, and I don't own an acoustic instrument. But if I can, it will be my pleasure to help. You can reach me by e-mail on my channel.

well I guess they learned a thing or two with Bosendorfer; the unibody concept you talk about at 3:50 is not new to Yamaha, Bosendorfer has been making their pianos in this manner for over 100 years and it's called the resonating body principle, basically the entire body of the piano becomes an extension of the soundboard, which allows for a better projected sound.
@RivertonPianoCompany2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jorge, and thanks for watching! While you're right that Bosendorfer has used the resonating body principle for a very long time (and you're right about what that principle does), you're missing how the two concepts are different. First of all, Yamaha is not using the resonating body principle. They still use laminated rims and different lumber for their bracing material (ie - not the same spruce they use for the soundboard). They still rely heavily on the soundboard for projection. They have, however, treated the rim and frame with the A.R.E. technology to enhance how those components project. What Bosendorfer does is far more complicated. Their rims are made out of solid spruce - as is their frames. That's why Bosendorfer pianos are far more expensive and take so much longer to build. Secondly, the Unibody principle isn't the same as the resonating body principle (though they have the same goal). Yamaha has redesigned their cabinets and refined their building processes so sound can transfer from one wood piece to another with less loss. Yamaha's joints are so tightly fit together now that you can't even see light between them with a flashlight! This kind of precision is not possible with pianos made outside Yamaha's factories (especially if your goal is consistency as well as quality) and it has never been possible before now. I hope that helps clarify the process. Yes, the goal is to produce a warmer, fuller, better-projected sound, but Yamaha's approach is more technical and far less expensive.

I have traveled the world and have been to many Musical and Orchestral works. There have been all brands and in my experience and hearing Yamaha and Steinway are close in Tone. Yamaha seems to produce a little more deeper timbres and textures. Other people and Professionals may say other wise. We perceive sound a little differently and what is pleasing to one is not to the other. I own a Yamaha Montage 8 which suites my needs in creating music. I'm trying to figure out how this piano could be improved and I guess the only things I can come up with is a bit more "warmth" in the tenor and bass and more saturated tuttis. I'm feeling the sound differences will be subtle.
@RivertonPianoCompany2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Benjamin! While it's true that "perfecting" a design usually means subtle changes, I can assure you the results are anything but. Yamaha actually changed the cellular structure of the WOOD they used here (with their ARE tech). That with the new action design, hammer felts and "unibody" construction combine to make a MASSIVE difference. The piano actually resonates all the way to the top notes. It doesn't stop "singing" in the upper treble. It does have more warmth across the scale, but it has even more projection as well. SO much more color. You'll be impressed. EVERY one of the eight pianists I had play it said the same thing. ...including me. :)

Also in the Digital Stage Piano/Keyboard arena such as their CLAVINOVA OR CP300 or even the newest Stage Pianos with those wooden keys not any other Digital Piano plays or sounds identical too a Yamaha. Not just that; They practucally replaced the school(s) in California that burned to the ground They got all new instruments no cost to the one school I know. So they do support our kids in the most positive way. They try to take care of them. Look in several school. Guarantee its a Yamaha somewhere in Most. That's valid. We all have our preferences. ...but it's pretty hard to find a "balanced Steinway" as they are very inconsistent. That's why Steinway takes university faculty to a big room with 10 of each model - so the faculty can play several Steinways and find the one they like. Yamaha and Bosendorfer don't have to do this because they have far better quality control and, thus, offer a much more consistent performance.
