I dumped my brand new Scrambler 900 on the concrete two days after I bought it, so don’t feel bad. Broke the clutch lever at the shear point. Forgot to put the kickstand down 😅. Everyone has done it. I have a 2010 with 25.000 miles on it. Been around big parts of Europe and Eastern Europe and the bike has not failed me once. It starts, runs, accelerates and brakes like the day I picked it up. The only actual fault I have ever had was a light bulb in the rev counter going black. I’m not kidding, this is a proper, frickin’ good bike.

@ScramblerStories Жыл бұрын
No back support, do you mean the rack on the rear? I had a grab rail installed for a bit, and then I changed to a rack/grab rail. Both were OEM accessories from Triumph. When I was traveling on this bike I would strap a bag across the rear of the seat for luggage, and that would be my back support.

Thank you! No I don't have an issues with vibrations or brake squeal. @@leeallen8840 It's a cool bike, and I would totally take one if BMW was feeling generous. But I would not choose it over the Triumph. The Street Scrambler is definitely more comfortable in my opinion, though it doesn't have as much power. I also think it's better looking, but the BWM is pretty too. I just don't like the way the front end looks. The main reason to get a BMW is that boxer engine, that's a real appeal to that bike in my opinion. I've put over 40,000 miles on my Street Scrambler and haven't had any real issues. At least any that weren't my fault! haha

It could definitely be a first bike. The power is nothing crazy, so that won't be an issue. My biggest concern as a first bike would be if you bought new and were worried about dropping it. Thanks man. Really enjoyed the vid. Had my heart set on the XSR 900 but for a long time now find myself gravitating towards the scrambler. Seems like a much more comfortable bike to have someone on the back of as well as being bloody gorgeous. Any problems with finding paneers that fit the bike with that high exhaust placement?
@ScramblerStories6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There are lots of options, but all of them only are for the left side. Nothing yet to mount a pannier over the exhaust. Happy Trails made a rack for the older Scrambler, but they haven't made anything yet for this one. I am trying to ride to Alaska next year, so hopefully I'll be able to develop something with a friend to get lockable aluminum panniers on both sides. If I do, we'll certainly sell it to others. I haven't rode a XSR900, but I love the Scrambler and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a super fun bike that rides well, looks great, and makes you feel super cool. @ScramblerStories7 жыл бұрын
I would say it could definitely be a first bike (I started on a 600cc sport bike), but you should consider a few things first. Taking some sort of rider safety course first would be a good idea. It's an easy motorbike to ride, so it really wouldn't be difficult to learn on. That being said, most riders make simple mistakes when starting out, and it's not uncommon to drop a bike when you're learning. It's probably best to learn on a cheap used bike and then graduate to a new one. However if you want to start with it, it's totally doable but do some kind of rider safety course first to learn a little first. In the end it'll really depend on you. I've been driving manual transmissions my whole life, and I've always had good balance, so learning wasn't a problem for me. My roommate on the other hand, struggling with shifting and balance. He's started with a TU250X and will graduate to the Street Scrambler when he's ready.

Would you recommend this bike for a new rider? Fell Inlove with this bike. I must have it. I will!
@ScramblerStories7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I do feel like a beginner could start on it. It doesn't feel overwhelming powerful as long as you aren't going full throttle. The downside to learning on this bike, would be if you dropped it making a beginners mistake. The plus side, is it's incredibly easy to ride. So easy to learn on. My first bike was a 600cc crotch rocket. But it was used and beat up. If it was me, this could have easily been my first bike, other than I would have been nervous about dropping it or something. You'll have to decide if it's worth the risk of learning on a new expensive bike, or buying a cheap used one until you're ready for this one. Decisions, decisions! Either way, eventually get the Street Scrambler, it's awesome!

It does fine. Doesn't have much wind protection or creature comforts like heated seats and cruise control. I don't really find the power to be an issue, but a little more wouldn't hurt. Spoked tyres = inner-tubes. I wouldn't like to have a puncture at speed. You replaced that really nice split seat which would have allowed you to have a rack instead of the rear seat. Still, your choice. Ah, now I see your wife rides pillion. Disappointing you dropped it. Much damage? Nice bike.
@ScramblerStories7 жыл бұрын
No damage from the drop, although if you notice there is a dent in the gas tank from another off-road mishap that unfortunately my buddy stopped filming and didn't catch. For a good hour and a half I was getting good at sliding the back end around until I goofed! But other than the dent the bike was fine. I on the other hand fractured my shoulder. Need to eventually get a proper dual sport for playing in the dirt. The bench seat is more comfortable for me as well. The stock seat kind of pushes me forward, although I have kept it if I need it.
