I was an RA in college. Everyone is feeling homesick those first few weeks. Go to as many events as possible. They might seem cheesy but it helps a ton to meet people. Also don’t be afraid to call your parents a bunch they feel the same way. I called my mom in between classes every day.

Ari, I moved from California to Louisiana after high school, for college. I felt 100% the same way you feel. It hurt, it was all I thought about, the culture was different than the West Coast, but it did get better. Day by day, I promise it gets better. Little did I know the amazing life long friends I’d make and I met my husband! We’ve been married for 25 years but together since college about 30+ years. Best thing you can do is get involved, even if you don’t want to or feel like it. Talk to the people sitting next to you in class, they are probably feeling the exact same way. You will do great! Just take it one day at a time. You got this! 🌸

Ari give yourself some time. You can't go from the crazy pieces home to a quiet apartment with only your thoughts without feeling overwhelmed or lonely. I'm sure your family is crying right along with you cause you are very much loved and missed. Stay strong and it's ok to cry. Have a great first year. We your fans are all very proud of you 💚💚💚

I'm sorry Ari, it's ok to feel that way and dont let people convince you otherwise. It's a huge change and being so far away from family and friends is hard but with time things will get easier and you'll find your own little community away from home. Instead of mourning your family being gone, try to grow excitement for the next time you will get to see them again. Wishing you the best 🙏🏽❤️

Ari, I’m 25 and my entire family moved away a couple of years ago, a 22 hour drive away, and I STILL cry. You aren’t alone, and you’re allowed to take time to feel these things and let yourself cry. Crying is a good way to let ourselves heal and find our way. The waves will come and go, but never question why you’re feeling the way you are, never try to push it down, never feel silly for being upset. From one long distance daughter to another, we will get through this. Hugs.

They will be so excited to hear from their big sister. Call Hallie, call Alex. Their on their own too but a lot closer to home so they can update everyone’s goings on. Face time often with grandma a d aunt Bonnie. Know you are very well able to get through this and the semesters will go fast. College is always busy flies by quickly. That I can promise. My first night away from my family was the night before basic training. As soon as my folks left me at the hotel, I was like, "Oh no! I have made a huge mistake!" The first weekend of basic training we were kept busy during the day but nights I was so homesick and so was everyone else! Everyone was talking about ways to get out of their military contracts, one girl joked about sipping on cleaning supplies to create a medical emergency. Knowing everyone else felt the same actually calmed me down and helped me feel less overwhelmed. And staying busy really does help.
